Not going to hang my head on this one, the cheap goals were the killer, but beyond that we played a nice game and deserved at least 1 point.

Is the right attitude AZ, it's just sickening for now. Very happy with most of our play, some of our defending of course needs tightening up, but not to the extent we out played them. Need to just calm down, ref was sh*te too but that's par for the course.

Downing played well

So many positives at the moment but the defence is such a critical negative. Until we sort it out all our possession and passing is void.

Didn't ever deserve to lose - or even draw that game.

But we're shipping goals far too easily.

We can't go with "we'll score more than you will" all season, surely? It's far too risky.

Though BR's mantra is certainly to score lots of goals, damn sure he's not happy shipping them. I'm trusting that he's definitely working to wipe that out of our game. The kind of system we play is one that the balance of flashy offense and tight defense is just a bit harder to find than a more safer way. It'll come. I have faith in that.

On the plus side, Rod Stewart's autobiography is serialised in the Mail on Sunday.

Agree with TOWNSEND. Got to score more when dominating! Suarez can't do it all on his own. Actually, he can!! Can't do nothing from the bench, tho!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not too disheartened. Played a great game to be fair!

Still fancy us to get through this group. I don't rate Anzhi and we've shown we're a better team than Udinese and Young Boys.

Great possession today, lacked the penetration we had against Norwich though. Probably the best performance I've seen from Downing so far this season, but he still frustrated me beyond belief! Since the Europa League isn't a priority I'm not panicking too much BUT, losing games at home that we didn't deserve to lose is beginning to bore me. Less mistakes = more points!

Defense is still a worry, but Reina wasn't responsible for any of the goals and the rest of the defense, aside from Johnson, are not first choice (and Joe Allen looked a bit off for me).

Still don't know how that foul against Downing wasn't a straight red. If you get one freebie like that each game why not just take down any player who gets by you?

Anyways, I'm still not paying too close attention to results this first half of the season. I'm looking at the product on the field and honestly this performance was good enough to placate me. Not the end of the world that we lost.

there was a period of play just after 30 mins which summed up our attacking, we just don't have a focal point, even when suarez came on he was basically an attacking mid.

Johnson, Assaidi, Robinson, Downing, Borini, no end product.

Shelvey, remember it's a team game and stop trying to run the game all by yourself - very impressed all in all though

We need to be clever in the final third (or fifth if you go by the Gaffer's reckoning)

We'll learn from this - possession does not win you games - and concentration is needed for the full 90 minutes

Udinese celebrating like they'd won the cup - tells me a lot.

All in all, a very good learning experience for our lads but after having possession for so long, you tend to fall into a familiar step, which is very different from when you don't have possession. We need to be able to switch to 'defensive mode' a lot quicker when we lose the ball after owning it for so long.
