I'd rest Gerrard and Suarez, but apart from that a good mix of youth and experience for this please.
Would like to see Assaidi, Yesil and Pacheco feature.

Would love to see Pacheco involved and each time I've seen Assaidi I've been impressed with his running and skills, but I agree with you Racer, a good mix of experience and youth tonight.

Off in half an hour to head up for the game, hope it's not another Reading/Arsenal heart in mouth job !!

I think Assaidi has done enough in the Europa and League Cup games to warrant a start in the league.  He has been consistently good, and aside from Suarez he is our only other really tricky player.  However, since he is fresh, he needs to be in the starting 11 tonight!

Strange that because I felt Pacheco was unlikely not to have a goal for us alreadly this season and at times was the brightest player
of the fringe squad we played. Funny how we all see things differently.

Yes his FB page said he'll be answering some questions the next two hours so I managed to get a reply and he said he is in the team for tonight and has to wait for the manager to speak to see if there's a chance for minutes but seems like he'll be a sub! reckon/kinda hope he comes on for Cole who will probably pull a hammy anyway!

For us to be successful this season, one of the fringe attacking players is going to have to step up in a big way.  I have my doubts that it will be Downing, so perhaps Joe Cole could be the one.  If he can get himself fit and into the form he was in at Chelsea a few seasons ago, he may be able to have a real positive impact on our season!

I won't be holding my breath though!!

Presumably because the Europa League game was a tougher ask? Anzhi, on paper, is a harder game than the second string LFC vs a weakened Swansea?

I would agree with this.

You'd think we could beat Swansea (without Vorm) with a "lesser" squad.

Really looking forward to see this, especially how young Yesil does in this set-up. Expecting a 2-0 to us and again into the quarters, come on Redmen!

Suarez is a top professional capable of playing 50-60 games a year. He's only 25. If we were in the Champions League he'd play all of those games as well as a few league cup games. I don't see why he would need to be rested. Gerrard on the other hand is getting old and the Europa League is a far superior competition to the League Cup.

Especially with the derby game coming up as well. I was surprised by that.

Out of the "reported" teams Id much prefer to see Henderson at right back then young Robinson

As has been already pointed out a win puts us in the last 8 with not a whole lot to fear already in there. So lets get the job done

If Robinson was to play I'd agree mate and put Henderson RB with Robinson LB.

I don't want to see Henderson at RB ! He was messed around enough last season - let him play in his natural position

Yeah play neither but if it is between the 2 Henderson for me.
