Stoke City 3 - 1 Liverpool - post match boxing

Can you honestly say we've looked in control of this game ?

The system does leave us vulnerable as it has the midfield and the full backs pushed so high up the pitch, leaving our two centerbacks exposed.

As that is right now, Stoke are trying to exploit it, by hitting us on the counter at every opportunity.

I thought we had 2 world class (as quoted many times on this board) CB's?  I have not seen much countering to be honest, just a lot of hoof ball and gross errors by the back 4.

this isn't a team of 11 strangers the best part of it have been together for a few seasons and this season they have played over 30 games consistency in performance should be there by now.

Entirely a different way he wants them to play Walton, and as many have noted some of them may not be best suited for it. Rodgers is playing the long game here with the club, if he makes it through we will probably be consistent and lethal for a decade; if he gets the boot then I suppose its back to the drawing board.

If I were a casual observer....I would say that aside from Suarez...the rest of these boys would rather be back in Liverpool in their warm houses. Doesn't appear to be any urgency or bite in our effort.

We have two great CBs but with the full backs bombing forward, and the mid field failing to cover their runs, we are left playing with a back 2. Most of Enriques and Johnsons tackles are made when chasing down players who have got behind them. The system isn't working and the players know it. Don't think for one minute, they don't realise that during matches.

Send Shelvey off !! We have been playing with ten men anyway.

Nope! But then again if Suarez can play wide we may get a bit more creation in the wide areas!

Shelvey is so clumsy, not good enough to be a Liverpool starter. One for the future, but not right now. I hope we can get a proper attacking midfielder this January.

they have had over 30 games together and 6 months of living and breathing this ne wway which incidentally isnt that different than the old way.
He has to manage the players he has got and make the system suit them not the other way round,

I think you've hit on another problem that everyone seemed to overlook when they were screaming for strikers...we need some cover on our defense. That's why I personally have thought this was going to take more than one year to turn around. We need some serious rebuilding it appears. We are good enough to win against anyone on any given day but thin enough to lose to anyone as well.
