I wish there was a chance of making our new number 10 Robinho.. apparently Santos put in a bid of 7m but they wont accept anything under 10m.. I guess if he is only going back to Brasil this will be very difficult, especially if he has no interest in coming back to England.

Was thinking about this at lunch, sad I know.

Chelsea are playing Luiz as a midfielder and they are the most likely to spend that type of money.
Strootman would certainly give them a more solid midfield.

Looking at all the communications coming from Lampard's agent it seems almost apologetic,
like he is preempting a fan backlash.

Wouldn't surprise me if Strootman went to Chelsea and Lampard was off to United.

This pisses me off. I signed Strootman back on FIFA 10! And I signed Stefan de Vrij on FIFA 11. I think our scouts need to stop looking at my game saves

In all seriousness, I really do rate Kevin Strootman. But it'll be a bit like signing Sahin. Unless we plan on playing him deeper, signing him is odd.

^^^  Interesting....  I really do rate Strootman, but as has been mentioned before, CM isn't our most urgent need right now and I would be disappointed if we spent a large percentage of our transfer budget on a CM.  Also, there are rumors that players like Diame, M'vila, Biglia, etc would cost less than half the amount Strootman would.  I'd much prefer Diame for 6M than Strootman for 22M....

With an already threadbare squad we've lost Cole, Morgan (on loan) and possibly Nuri with just one player in.

Yes Sturridge has improved our options up front but we haven't exactly strengthened the overall squad.

I don't watch much of the Dutch league (only the occasional game here and there) but Mertens always left a big impression on me when I watched PSV.

By the way, I watched a Feyenoord game not long ago (against Groningen I think) and it was a truly, truly awful match, although their CB who was linked to us (De Vrij or something like that) did seem to be an imposing figure, the only guy who stood out really.

Yeah De Vrij is an up-and-comer. As Bier pointed out a few weeks ago, he still needs some development time.

Well, walton, if the stories are true that (last Summer), 'we' were prepared to pay £15m for Sturridge and bid £3m for Dempsey then surely 'we' have got around £6m sitting 'spare'.

That's two ' young players with potential' right there or one Ince plus £2m saved for a good drink... if one prefers.
