Karim Benzema is a very natural finisher and if he was available and we spent £50m on him then I'd be delighted as it's money well spent.

We are talking about the first choice Real Madrid striker here by the way; not some lame striker with potential. Anyone who doubts Benzema's finishing ability needs to have their heads checked. Saying all that, I don't think RM would sell him unless they have Aguero/Reus up their sleeves.

Ha brilliant, got to love silly season. He signed a massive new contract in the summer, he's playing as a regular for the strongest team in the world right now, why would he want to leave and as much as I hate to say it, if he were to leave he would have much better options available to him than us this season.

Excellent player definitely. But why do you think that RM getting Reus would get them to sell? They play in totally different positions. Reus isn't a striker.

Having watched a fair bit of Hoffenheim recently, I could attest that Firmino really is a quality player. Coutinho-like quality on the ball and ability to spot a pass, though probably more of a goal threat.

Also, I wouldn't mind taking a punt on Andreas Beck. I've been a fan of him ever since Hoffenheim got promoted to the Bundesliga and were the "sensation" of that season. Beck has always been one of their most reliable players. A very solid right back IMO.

FSG's worst nightmare was exactly what the Mancs did last summer.

FSG had tried to pull the wool over our eyes telling us that if you don't have CL, you can't get top players.

then they went and signed di Maria, Falcao etc.

so now they've been found out; you CAN get top players without CL.  You just have to pay for it.  And FSG don't want to do that.
