I agree, and people seem to be underrating rather than overrating him now. Let's not forget that he's been played out of position for practically all season. #10 is where we'd see the best in Sterling, and he's only played there twice or three times this season?

Exactly, 50m, no less. Sterling is a special talent.

Just hope we don't waste the 50m on one players. Would rather blow the 50m on 2 exceptional than one "world class" player.

Some forgetting he is 20 and still developing. Capable of being brilliant but showing inconsistency like any other 20yr old in their profession.

Been sh*te past few weeks, though, and no where near what he thinks he is worth.

I wouldn't be sure that we would spend the dosh on one "world class" either (as much as I, like Brendan, would like that) 'cause he'd be looking paid. 

Then again; with Stevie & Glen gone wages, for top quality, shouldn't be an issue.

Well, I'm going to say it. Emre Can seems to be the only success from the summer transfer window which is shocking since we bought in 8 players (excluding Origi).

Even if we don't have much to spend this summer, we really need to stop fannying around and get some experienced players in the team whilst nabbing a few youngsters who we can afford.

The exceptional players I was thinking of would be the likes of, Schneiderlin, Illarramendi, Firmino, R.Rodriguez etc. Players that should be attainable If we qualify for CL at the Lallana price range. Infact, we should've bought 2/4 of those players I mentioned in the summer, argh!!

I guess if we don't qualify for CL, we'll be looking into players such as, Townsend, Ings, the return of Aspas and Alberto.... fml

What players would you consider exceptional?

I don't just look at the individuality in players, but what they can bring to a team too. The players I mentioned can improve the majority of CL teams and solidify their position in that team in my opinion.

So without CL footy we've got ready made excuses (even though they're bullshit excuses) of why we can't attract the stars again this summer... fantastic.

Imagine if we had Pep Guardiola last season and we DID win the league. I bet everyone on the forum would have said Pep won us the league and not Suarez. However, as it was Brendan Rodgers he doesn't deserve any credit.

Our manager is quite capable and not the sole reason we fu**ed in the transfer market last Summer.

If i were to sign a replacement for Sterling, my no1 priority would be Memphis Depay, a truly outstanding player who surely can become world class.

Another player i would look at would be Kevin De Bruyne.
 
I'd sign both players who can play around various positions upfront, and more importantly they could play together in a 4-2-3-1 system, with Depay on the left, Coutinho in centre and De Bruyne on the right.

We desperately need a striker or two. That's where we need to strengthen more than anywhere.

We're getting 2 in the summer in Origi and Ings mate so I doubt we'll be getting anyone else.
