General LFC Transfer rumours/gossip thread

Mate we still leaked goals left right and centre last season. Not sure what to think.

Imagine if we had someone like a Kante or Masch playing in the DM role? I don't think we would leak as much.

We gain control of the middle, we steady our defense/team. Still think we should pay big for a DM/DLPM specialist rather than looking into a CB.

I agree that he is 1 in 2 goal scorer but useless (I don't mean he is useless but we can't get best out of him) for us (on high money as well).

I hope you are right that plenty of clubs will looking for strikers in July but no one (but no one) is making noises about buying Benteke. That is a worry for me.

Chelsea and West Ham have shown interest already mate.  I know it means nothing until he's actually sold but I'm hopeful that once the striker merry go round starts next month and into August we'll get something more definite.

Let's hope so. With no Europe we need to trim our squad and get rid of some of the players that came thru with previous regime's blessing. Still don't understand why we (or more importantly you know who) bought Benteke. Mid boggles.

He [Benteke] has been highly thought of for years Robbie - in fact; it's well documented that BvB, under Jürgen, were heavily linked with him. So if we are being honest but for a twist of fate, the truth is: BvB fans could have been left asking the same question of Jürgen... much the same as they were over Immobile if truth be told. 

Some players fit the manager's plans, others don't but it doesn't necessarily mean that they are sh*te [apart from 'Super' Mario, of course].

Its clear thats not the way Jürgen sees the midfield as we have not been linked to any pure DM's.

Can will be or midfield anchor and he will be partnered by a CM with more attacking licence.

I think it's getting towards the time now when we will start offloading the players we won't be needing this season. Skrtel is almost gone, Lucas, Allen, Benteke are the 3 that may follow depending on whether we manage to bring in our targets or "need the money."

Obviously there are the likes of Bogdan and Balotelli, but I doubt we could buy an ice-cream with what they will bring in. 

Full back, CB, midfield player (or two) and possibly a striker would see our buying complete.

Got a feeling Lucas is going to stay..good experienced highly intelligent player that can fill multiple rolls and would not throw a hissy fit if he was not a starter.

If Sahko comes out without a ban or a very short one and we keep Lucas  we would have Lovren, Matip, Sahko, Gomez, Lucas...that should be good.

We need that LB and another mid (assuming Joe is leaving) Can, Henderson, Grujic, Lucas, Zielinski??, Stewart (think Stew is her at least one more season).

Up front is probably our strongest area.

Coutinho, Firmino,Mane, Lallana, Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Ojo, Ibe....probably good there, though I really do not think that Gotze is a complete write off yet...it might be the end of the window but he has as good/better chance to come to us then staying at Bayren or going off to what he really wanted (RM/Barca...thats not going to happen)

Bit different though in my mind as Joe is going into his last big contract and really want's to play every match; whereas Lucas is undoubtedly settled, loves the club, loves the city...Having a fella that can fill in one week at CB and turn around a play a cup match as a mid has a lot of value.

Everyone seems focused on bringing in a LB and another CB (depending on the situation Sakho leaves us in). I agree those are bigger priorities, but shouldn't we be looking at decent cover for RB too?

If something happens to Clyne, can we really rely on Flanagan or Randall for a few months or for a full season? Flanagan is still recovering from a horrific injury that has kept him on the sidelines for the better part of two years and apart from being a local lad, he really isn't as good as many make him out to be. He was decent two years ago, but is that enough? Randall isn't good enough either, he has been given a few games this year and hasn't impressed me at all. I know both of them can still improve and that having some Scouse blood in the team is always a good thing, but still. Both still have contracts until the 2018-2019 season.

I'm not saying we should prioritise a RB back-up, but it wouldn't hurt to have a decent replacement for Clyne.

Batshuayi is off to Chelsea for €40 million. He passed his medical in Bordeaux yesterday and is set to sign for five years. I'm happy that Mourinho isn't there anymore, a lot of Belgians hate him and Chelsea with a passion for what he has done with Lukaku, De Bruyne and other young, talented players. He is a right c**t.

I never said Benteke is sh*te - just that he is not for us. He would do very well at other clubs.

Agree with Super Mario - I thought he would do well when we signed him but didn't agree about Benteke. Shows how wrong one can be about players - well right about Benteke but wrong about Super Mario.
