General LFC Transfer rumours/gossip thread

We cannot ignore the fact that we've played six games of Champions League football in the last 8 years and we've played them badly. We cannot ignore that we do not have the lure of a Steven Gerrard or a Luis Suarez already for top players to say 'I want to play with them'. We cannot ignore that not only are our owners not going to want to spend 300,000 a week on wages for a player... But the fact remains that financially they are a rung below the 'top' spenders to start with.

What we do have is the best group of supporters in the world who people will say 'I want to play for them'. What we do have is a manager who players can say 'I want to work with him'.

We need to start looking at things more objectively or else we're going to end up judging this next transfer window based on a scale we should not be using. Yes we are Liverpool... But we're nowhere close to the Liverpool that could buy anyone they wanted. The cold, harsh reality of it is that if we're in for a player and so are Chelsea... They're going to go to Chelsea UNLESS they are a Liverpool or a Klopp fan.

We need to stop making it out like this is easy, remember behind every player is an absolute thunder c**t of an agent who would rather see their player sitting on a bench in China raking in the cash which in turn keeps ticking over his own bank balance... Than playing in front of the Kop. If it was as easy as giving Lyon £40 million for Lacazette, we'd have done it by now! Wake the F**k up! Don't think that you're going to do a better job than someone that has years of trained professional experience and knows more about the game in their little finger than you'll ever know! To get to the player, you got get past the agent, and I'm willing to bet anything that they have been, and will be Liverpool FC's biggest issue for years to come.

So anyways... bottom 4 - Fer, Mawson, Sigurdsson - Robertson - Traore - Pickford?

Adam Traore? He can stay where he is for me. Arguably the least intelligent player I've ever seen on a pitch.

I'd say just Pickford & Sigurdsson. If we're going for a left back then I'd prefer somebody better than Robertson.

Sigursson, Zaha and Van Djik would do me from the Premier League and Alexander Lacazette from Lyon and we are sorted.

However, I think we can compete against the likes of Dortmund, Atletico, Spurs and Arsenal if we really want the player.

Costa almost joined, alongside many others. Klopp is a big attraction, our fans and history is a big attraction, our football is a big attraction - our negotiation skills and ambition is a major let down.

we would struggle to sign someone who Barca or Real are trying to sign....but for the majority of other teams we have a good chance, depending on how we go out to get them, the timing, the sales pitch and the dream were selling.

The point is, finally at the end of each transfer window those proven top quality players never join us. Even the best prospects also refused us but signed for other club.

The point is, we cannot compete to get top quality players. It's not F***ing matter why, who to F***ing blame, who the F**k is a manager/a owner/a negotiator and the F**k everything else but WE LIVERPOOL FC fail to enforcement with the top quality players. That's F***ing matter.

Good job the rransfer committee reigned in that last f****** idiot we had managing the club. He'd have spunked 14 million quid combined on Ryan Bertrand and Gylffi Sighurdson. Last thing we needed that was.

I know what you mean mate, Klopp won't sign any so called star players but you can be guaranteed whoever he brings in will be quality and will strengthen the squad.

Looks like Brandt and Meyer are top of his shopping list both are very exciting young players.

Mate, imagine if he's with us this season, I believe in the absent of Mane and injuries/poor form to Coutinho/Lallana/Hendo etc like our last few months having Gylfi will help a lot.

Yes nothing guarantee in the real world so people can say what if he also injure/off form etc but I think I tried to make a point.

And I believe having him with us next season as squad player if Klopp can get his primary target, with Hendo's condition still in doubt and we will have more games to play is not a bad idea.

I so far always the kind of "buy only players those take a place of our current first xi then leave the squad/back up players to supply by the academy"  but up to now I begin to fear I may never see that again at Liverpool Football Club, in my life :\.  I'd say I'm almost give up of it now sadly.

If you're thinking of Sigurdsson in case Mane gets injured or misses games in future then I'd argue that Zaha is the better option but I do like Sigurdsson as a player - at Swansea. I've not seen a great deal of Zaha this season but some friends of mine - with whom I share very similar opinions on certain players - have told me how good he's been this season and how much he's improved since his Man United days. I think both players would probably command similar crazy fees.

Unfortunately football has moved on a great deal from the times when academy players made up most of the 'rest of the squad' after the first 11. There's too much pressure on managers and too much money at stake for academy players to be relied upon to that extent.

Where did we buy players from in the past that made up our most successful teams?

Ive seen us be '1 or 2 players away for decades, Collymore, Ince, Suarez....when we signed the dynamic duo Babb and Jones etc.

Now i am very grateful for what we have achieved along the way...but we have had so many chances where we have been close to only then go and buy poorly and moonwalk backwards (also allowing the stars of the time to leave - Mcmanaman, Owen, Suarez, Mash, Xabi etc)

To be fair, despite us being a couple points off City that one season with Suarez, I'd say we were more than 1 or 2 players away, I'd say more like an entire defence and keeper as well as a bit of grit to the midfield too. A team that concedes that many goals shouldn't be anywhere near that close to winning it and we were massively lucky that we had SAS blowing teams away with their goals or it would have been like every other season under Rodgers.
