General LFC Transfer rumours/gossip thread

To be fair, despite us being a couple points off City that one season with Suarez, I'd say we were more than 1 or 2 players away, I'd say more like an entire defence and keeper as well as a bit of grit to the midfield too. A team that concedes that many goals shouldn't be anywhere near that close to winning it and we were massively lucky that we had SAS blowing teams away with their goals or it would have been like every other season under Rodgers.

Exactly that though isn't it, my view. Can't expect everyone to agree, can only pass comment on the way I see things.

look at the list of names people aspire too...

sigurdsson (failed at spurs - mid team specialists)
Zaha (failed with the scum)
Lanzini (failing to rip up trees at a poor west ham)

people will no doubt wax lyrical about these players and use the tried and tested 'ive always like them, they're better than someone poor that we recently brought, klopp will make them better, just look at Mane, '

The ambition of our fans is pity-full and the willingness to overpay for dross is mind blowing

we have spent nearly £100 mill on the defenders we currently have on our books and they cant defend for toffee...we even have to play midfielders in defence to help stop the rot 

Who the hell is aspiring to those players? The only thing Zaha has ever done to impress me was turning up to United training on day one with an Imogen Thomas t-shirt on (true story)

Think he's said he's not providing one because people won't agree... Takes away from the entire point of a forum though.

I think a left back is a must, don't know if Hector is still available? I've also always rated Rodriquez the Swiss left back but again he may not be free. We also need a striker and Lacazette must be choice number one and gettable for my money too. Don't think we should waste our time on James from Madrid but a Brant type player is good for us so long as we get a marquee player like Lacazette.

That all hinges on finishing 4th though, if we don't you can expect more of the same.

I've not heard anything of Hector all season long. Not sure if he's even been playing for Germany or not? I like Rodriguez but I'm not sure how much they'd be asking for him, it could well be a sum that Klopp feels uncomfortable paying for a full back.

Lacazette would be a very good buy IMO if we could get him. He works his arse off, his link up play is really good, he can play across the front line and he has pace. What's not to like? He's been on fire again this season too.

Should we finish in a top four position (I am still not sure that we can) and we have CL football, it will be interesting to see if we (LFC) can sign any of our manager stop targets and if FSG are willing to pay in transfer fees and wages what is needed to achieve that gold... Will be a interesting transfer window

We can not afford to lose any of our remaining games, Even draws makes things more difficult and even if we win we still need Chelsea to beat those around us and Spurs to beat Arsenal, and West Ham to take points from Arsenal... Need a fair few games to go our way...So yes, top 4 is a big ask

Not interested in James Roriguez... he is Milan Baros the 2nd. Fantastic at international football, but been awful for Madrid. I can't imagine him being better in the English league if he can't do well in Spain. Strikers tend to score more in the Spanish league. Madrid asking for 50m? Madrid are a bit late for April fools here.

I thought Suarez might return if we made CL this year, but he went and signed a contract until 2021. I doubt he will ever come back now. We certainly won't wait for him to be not good enough for Barca to give him an option at Liverpool. He is not such a legend to me. World class when at Liverpool maybe, but he didn't win anything worthwhile, bit a few people, got involved in a racist row, took Liverpool through legal bother to try and force a move to Arsenal for £40,000,001.

Doubt we will get Sanchez, he will leave Arsenal but Chelsea look the most likely destination.

Can't really see us shelling our for Lewandowski, he is under contract until 2021 and already 28.

I think it will be a new LB, GK, CM most likely.

Orgi, Mane, Firmino and Sturridge are probably good enough for Strikers anyway... we still have Ings as a backup.
I am not even counting Woodburn as a backup striker yet. Scoring one goal in a cup game doesn't make him premiership ready.

I wouldn't like to see us pay 50m for him to play striker, but as a 10, sure

I love James, great footballer and a match winner, and he hasn't been awful for Madrid. I know he doesn't work as hard, but does he need to vs the lesser teams and with the likes of, Wijnaldum, Hendo or Can behind him?

providing names historically just gets the forum bullies to come out crying....i can provide suggestions, based on players i like, who i think would suit etc - but like ive said - it seems like a smelly trap 

Like you i rate the Swiss left back, he has been doing well for a number of seasons now.

I like the idea of James, i like the idea of getting someone used to being at a massive club, used to the pressure, still hungry and who has obvious quality that would a. please the fans (well some) b. please the players (who may want to leave and lay with better players like Courtinho etc) c. Add quality d. Send a sign to the rest that were no pushover e. (potentially) take us to the next level

the likes of Lacazette would also be welcome, but the clear difference is that Lacazette would be stepping up (in many ways -especially in terms of club size) while someone like James would not be stepping up at all.

Ideally we should be 'tapping up' the likes of Sanchez - regardless of his desire to remain in london, history has shown that players travel all over for different reasons - even places like Stoke and Bolton have been known to sign players who you would not traditionally think they could

I think Klopp wants all his players to work hard, regardless of who is behind or in front.
It's how his system works, and if one player isn't putting in the effort, the system doesn't really work, especially up front because they provide the trigger for the first press.

He does, and and I agree, the system doesn't really work if one of the forward players doesn't press like the others. However, I do wonder if it's a necessity vs the lesser teams?

Fair point, but would James be happy playing in half (or so) of our games?
It would be OK probably if we get CL, but other than that, I think it's probably a non starter, unless Klopp could work some magic and turn him into a player who works harder.

Yeah, I highly doubt Klopp will be looking into him. Would be nice to have such a luxury player vs the lesser teams. Oh well, I guess Isco would do then

Wouldn't rely on this. He will be getting a lot of interest from German clubs too, even if we get him he is just a player with potential and not the finished product. He had 2 goals and 6 assists from 25 games. If our number one target is a youth that may make it big time, but could be like Markovic, who by the way is still a Liverpool player, then I am going to lose optimism of any European success.
