He wants similar wages to top earners at Bayern like Neuer and Lewandowski which around 250k-300k (according to quick google) which I don't think we would be willing to pay.

Don’t see why a centre back can’t be brought in the first week the window opens to be honest, need one in sooner rather than later in the window

Costa is a free agent after leaving athletico Madrid.
As much as I can’t stand him I would take him on a short term 6 month contract if it meant selling origi to help fund a new defender.
Plus costa ruffles up defenders and would still offer more than origi does.

Hadn't even heard the name until your post, but at age 20 fits the profile of the type of defender we would be likely to sign this January window: Someone who can fill in right now as we are short of warm bodies but who should have no problem becoming a depth player once everyone returns. He'd be one for the future but able to help us now as well.

Never heard of him before either but seems to be highly rated for his age.

According to the Athletic, Stefan Bajcetic signs today from Celta Vigo for £224,000, and we also bring in 15 year old Birmingham left back Calum Scanlon for about £400,000.

No. If this is the type of player we're looking at then we might aswell just play Rys or Nat. Certainly we have to be looking at someone better then this

I've said it a few times now but just get Per Schuurs from Ajax, just pay whatever they want, plus an established CB on loan as cover.

Botman looks to have all the necessary requirements to be a top CB.

On a more serious note we signed a young (16yo) defender from Celta Vigo. It's obviously not the news everybody is waiting for but it's apparently official nonetheless. Most probably something related to us liking the kid + Brexit rules kicking in.

Edit: it actually says it in the tweet that it is related to Brexit rules.
