I thought he was good for the bluenoses what little I saw of them

James is a liability without the ball and a million miles off being a Klopp player i think. Very talented but when you compare him to our lads (Salah, Man and Jota) and the way they bust a gut when we are out of possession (a little less so Salah but he still ruins his bollox off) i don't think i could ever see Rodriguez doing that which in the modern game will prevent him from making it big with the best sides.

I've no doubt that our "getting one or two more in" probably depends on offloading Origi and/or Shaqiri,
but do wish people would stop being disingenuous.

Same applies to people who carry on as if the squad didn't have an unprecidented injury crisis last year,
and speak as though the squad was just light on numbers.

Defense has been addressed.
I'd like us to replace Gini.
Other than that, happy to see Elliott get some game time.

We have three position upfront with only one quality replacement in Jota. How can one man cover three positions at Afcon time?

Not many teams can boast a lineup of Mane, Mo and Bobby with Jota as backup. Doesn't mean we shouldn't still bring in another quality attacker, but it's not like we have 3 mediocre players with one young backup player to rest them.

I'm optimistic (maybe naively?) that Elliott may turn out to be the revelation of the season but I suppose that all depends on whether he gets time to play. He looked really good last year in a team that's nowhere close to as talented as ours, he seems like the type of player that will look even better when surrounded by great players, if he gets that chance.

Yes. Good is the enemy of best. There are still better players out there who are able to strengthen our squad. For example - Kylian Mbappe and those on the Ballon d’or list. We already have a few but we should have more if not all.

With the fans back I think we will see Bobby and Mane recapturing their form - you could see glimpses of it towards the end of the season - too many people have dimissed Bobby as finished

Technically he was signed on 1st July which is the new seasons transfer window 😁

You address one point in my post and claim I am “making sh*t up” when in fact the player has run his contract down and we do not have a viable like for like replacement; economic expediency as a priority over football strategy again.

6M net investment, to fill a role we didn't backfill last summer.
I suppose we should be happy its a 1200% increase on our January 2021 budget.

A club of our size and stature should be making the squad stronger. The owners seem very reluctant to strengthen. Wether you like it or not the teams around us have substantially strengthened and if we don't follow we will fall behind. A fate I certainly don't want to see

Yeah I mean I'm not impressed by our work in the transfer window so far but that is some weird take to count Konate as a signing for last season!
