He would be in the world top 10 highest player salary bracket.

1) have more ambition and mess it up; or
2) not at all he wouldn't mess it up, not in a million years. I've faith in our staff. It should work out; or
3) then go ahead and rebalance the salary bracket by buying up the other ten highest paid players on the list.

As much as I think we really need to sign a centre half, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we stick we what we have. If we don't, we'll never know the reason; did Jürgen think we have enough to gamble on using who we have fit, or did we only try and sign players he thought would go straight in to the team but were rebuffed or scared off by the inflated January prices?

Saying that, I also wouldn't be surprised if a signing came out of no where and was completed shortly.

With Matip back next week it's not happening.

Had he picked up a longer term injury the club may have had no choice but to sign someone.

OK that's the league and CL out of the window for this season then and in the summer I predict we'll lose a few more, at least we have the last 2 years to enjoy, I think its probably back to battling it out for top4 for the forseeable future until we get owners who are willing to invest for sustained success.

Can't see us winning anything this season also as we've been so unlucky with injuries. But next season with VVD and Joe back plus a couple of new additions to the squad we will be very strong again.

It is perhaps a bit kneejerk but with the chronic lack of investment compared to opponents I can only see us moving in one direction.

Finances. We only buy for the long haul it seems.

Sometimes I wish every decision didn’t have to  bathed in fiscal responsibility. But it’s not my money so it’s easy for me to say that I guess.

Id love to spend crazy money on players and wages but 2010 should have opened all our eyes to how easily even a giant can be brought close to the end by poor management.

Also lets not forget, the club look at every aspect of a player not ust football ability before they sign them. A full profile on a plsyers behaviours lifestyle etc.

I quite respect how we operate. Yes its likely to mean I wont see us sign a Messi or Mbappe but that doesnt mean we wont be the best team with what we do sign
