Oh sh*t we're fu**ed now. Sturridges fitness simply cannot be relied upon now we must sign a top striker in January.
The decision not to sign Remy for a partly £8M gets worse by the day

      Don't think he ever did.

Funnily enough when I first signed him on one of my only ventures into football manager I did actually recall him having a tag/note "never gets injured", this was way before we signed him.

The more it went on I was very impressed with whoever came up with that little note, but we have to accept that everyone is different and players with explosive pace are more prone to these types of injuries.

Sturridge has always struggled, just typical when we need him most that he is having his worst spell and it will really hurt us, of that there is no doubt.

Get well soon Studge, you're sorely missed!

Think the only games he ever missed for us was when he was banned, don't remember it ever being due to an injury, not so much as even 1 game.

Morning papers will report that Sturridge suffered a calf injury on his return to training and will be out for another month #LFC

Jimmy Rice ‏@JimmyRiceWriter 10 minutes ago
Reports are that Sturridge suffered a strain during routine warm-up. Best case scenario is two weeks - worst is a month.

Is this some kind of sick joke  ???

This is getting stupid now. How many more injuries is he going to pick up? We need a striker in January without a doubt. If we have to rely on Balotelli, Lambert and Borini for most of the season then we're in trouble.

I said this over the summer.  Many times.  You can't rely on Sturridge.  On his day he is unplayable.  But the problem is when he's NOT on his game, he becomes selfish and doesn't play with the team.  Whereas Suarez, even when his shooting boots weren't on, he could still be an important part of the attack.

But even more importantly, you can't rely on Sturridge not only because some games he just doesn't show up, but also because he is made of freaking glass.  I mean this is ridiculous.  You just can't build your attack around him because he's out way too much.  Can't blame this one on Hodgson's "training methods" either.

Terrible news. Sturridge is key to our team scoring goals and helping Balotelli and Sterling get more space to score.

I'd like to see Gerrard pushed forward now behind Balotelli. Otherwise I fear we're going to be toothless for weeks.

He doesn't have the legs for such a position though.

Not 3 games in a week, no. But I'd definitely play him there against Real Madrid.

60 mins of Gerrard in that position against Madrid will probably create more threat than any of our other players in that position over 90 mins.

But he still has the ability to link well with a front line striker. No doubt others will have to do some of Gerrard's work and tracking back but I think that the advantages of having someone upfront who can give the perfect pass will create more chances than someone who's only asset is to "work hard" such as Borini , while I would back Gerrard to run Lambert into the ground any day of the week.

hate to say it but the truth is we should have waited to give him the new contract until he could prove he could be fit for at least 6 months straight, during the season.  His injury record with us is nothing short of ridiculous.

I mean we didn't extend Aurelio's contract because he was made of glass, even though Aurelio was one of the best LBs in the world.  Surely we should have used the same precautions with Sturridge.

OMG , again ! a f*ckin month or so without our first striker
gutted for daniel, and for LIVERPOOL
Mario has to step up his performances now ,if we want to recover our season, from what I 'v seen till now not too confident in Borini or Lambert at the moment and Balotelli for all that matter
Just hope he(daniel) will not turn up to be very fragile with all these injuries

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge faces another two to four weeks on the sidelines, according to a report.

The 25-year-old England forward has been out of action for six weeks due to a thigh strain he picked up on international duty.

He had been thought to be close to a comeback but, according to the Liverpool Echo, pulled his calf during training on Thursday and could now be absent for up to another month.

"Daniel has pulled his calf," Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers told the newspaper.

"He's looking at being out for another two to four weeks.

"It's a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back. He has worked tirelessly.

"But we have other players training hard and working hard and we will turn to them. It's why we bulked up the squad in the summer."

Sturridge is now set to miss Sunday's Barclays Premier League trip to QPR and the midweek Champions League clash with Real Madrid at Anfield at the very least.

      BT Sport

...... and after spending gadzillions in the summer after Luis went we STILL dont have a 20 goal striker.  FFS!

We knew Studge was injury prone.

The striker, who suffered with injuries throughout his time at Man City and Chelsea, has now suffered at least 8 separate injury incidents since arriving at Anfield less than 2 years ago.

      Anfield Online

... and we got him cheaper by waiting whilst Luis carried the team on his own.

      Like Tescos really.
Buy em cheap sell em high.

      Buy em cheap or injured.
      Valdes comes to mind.
