What do you reckon Redmen: is there a 'cut off point' [number of days injured], where fans start to turn nasty on our own players or do we just wait until it becomes fashionable?

Who triggers the change: your peers, the media?

Surely our medical team decide if a player is genuinely injured or not. If he's not then no 'sick note'.

So unless we are trying to suggest that the company Doctors are compliant in a deceit: it's best to assume the injuries are legit.

An injury prone player may not be what fans want or what the team needs but that is no reason to hate on them, IMO, obviously.

Especially as "injury prone" players are our forte. 🙄

One last  thought; fans turned on Danny Agger and fans have turned on Danny Sturridge... Danny Ings must be shitting it. (Unless the 'rules' are that you have to have played regularly for the first XI before incurring the 'Wrath of Fan') 😁

      Great post Mouse.

I think Danny will move on and probably should move on as along with his injuries I just don't think the manager fancies him.

But some of the nonsense spouted about him in this thread is ridiculous.

Nothing against Sturridge, but if he'd been working in the NHS, he'd have been sacked with his sickness record.

A F***ing bin man would have been binned off.
Absolutely no agenda with the lad, he is a joy to behold on those very rare days when he is playing and at the top of his game; unfortunately those occasions are almost none-existent of late.
That said the word liability comes to the fore.

Yep, love Sturridge for what he's done for us, but there's no point flogging a dead horse. There's no indication to suggest his injury woes will ever improve, and if keeping him here ruins our chances of getting a proper replacement, then he needs to go. Thanks Daniel, It's not your fault but there's no room for sentiment anymore.

Gerry Byrne would put Sturridge to shame.

Gerry played most of the Cup Final on May 1st 1965 with a broken collar bone .

      Says everything .

Is right Billy, played almost a full game with a broken leg while on about £100 a week.
Studge would have been well sacked in the day men were men.

Still think JK should have given him more game time when fit (even if only as a sub but coming on earlier).  Might have made a difference once he got some match fitness,  especially during our mad moth of January.

What hasn't helped him is how Klopp wants him to be 100% before he gets a start but he's not going to be 100% and most players at this stage of the season are far from 100%.

Difference being most players have a good few games under their belt at this stage of the season, whereas Sturridge..........

Really hope he stays but only if he can maintain an acceptable level of fitness. He is an absolutely fantastic striker, a natural, but that is only favorable for us if he can actually play. Even if he can stay fit for the remainder of the season, who`s to say he won`t be back on the sidelines, come August or before? A difficult decision. I would say give him until winter to see what`s what. Whatever happens, I hope he can get his fitness on track and play top level football like before, for us or someone else. No player wants to be sidelined or on the bench, and a lot of the comments here implying he is a leech (unbelievable  ???) or weak of mind for not playing injured are ludicrous and plain stupid. Best off luck to Danny boy  ;)

It's not just what we want, it's what the player wants. Does he want to drop down to a lower table club, most likely accept a pay cut, in return for playing as regularly as his body allows? Then there's what other clubs want. The likes of West Ham have been suggested as interested in him but can West Ham afford to spend money on a player that plays once a blue moon? Is a Chairman in charge of a club with limited funds really going to sign off on a player with Sturridge's persistent injury woes? This is a complex situation that may well end up being out of our hands.

Looking into the future here, but it may be a case that he ends up leaving for free if his injury record doesn't improve, as you say who we'll be willing to pay for him?
I would love to have a fully fit Daniel in our Team, but I'm not sure Jürgen wants him even when he is fit.

Doesn't sound like he will be according to the man himself:

      Quote
“It’s not that we could say he is at 100 per cent, he is doing what we think is right for him to keep him on track for these last three games.

“[We’ve had] very good talks, we’re really close in the moment. [He’s doing] something different today then training with the team tomorrow and all that stuff. As long as it’s like this we can for sure have him and use him in the squad, that’s the most important thing.

“Then we have to see which line-up we start with and then how long he can go, but in this moment it’s very, very important that we have him as an option on the bench and can bring him in because, how everybody knows, he can decide a game in a second.

“So that’s very, very positive and hopefully it stays like this.”

Would start him, but don't think Jürgen will.
Origi hasn't been up to his better form, so if Studge still can't get a start today, tells volumes.    (tho not really anything new)
