For a team bottom of the league he was a super massive gamble.

Terrible shame for him. The reality is the top league is maybe too much for him physically. Can't say it's too surprising when you consider that Klopp and the fitness team managed him as best as they could. Handing him over to a useless luddite like Pardew was just asking for trouble much in the same way that Hodgson fu**ed him over with England.

Should just retire if he is now doing his hamstrings by just kicking a goal.

Had a Potentially great career but blighted by injuries.

Unbelievable. Can't get a break! Surely his confidence will take a knock with this latest setback. Even he must be wondering what he can do now..

He's near on finished, wouldn't be shocked to see him call it a day sooner rather than later or sod off to the Chinese League. Either way, his days of being a top class striker in the Premier League are over, it's a shame but his career has been ruined by injuries.

As others have posted, what a massive shame that his injury issues continue on and utterly destroy a truly great player.
Such a shame that his injuries have made many forget just how good he was for us. At times utterly fantastic and almost world class.

Think we did the right thing loaning him out. His career is over I think. He should take up punditry.

Gutted for Danny, dont like seeing any player have there career ended by injuries least of all one of our own who was brilliant.
Personally Think he needs to give some serious thought to hanging up his boots ,really is a shame & a real waste of a talent.

Listening to people here say that he should hang up his boots...

People we should have sold him two seasons ago. We probably would have gained a decent wad of change for him then, if he stays on we only have medical bills, paying his wages ans the odd appearance here and there to look forward to.

He will never recover for these injuries.Once blighted by these types of injury a player never fully recovers and the injuries just keep coming (Jamie Redknapp among others)

Was a great player for us at one time but we should not let sympathy rule our brains... Has long as he remains at the club he also take chances away from players like Solanke,Ings,Woodburn etc

Sell if we can, if not let go

Klopp seems to have suggested this previously; that he needs to know the difference between actual pain and mental pain.

It's one thing having your career ended by one horror challenge - but at least in that regard you know there is nothing you can do.

The culmination of his career seems worse than that because it's a long drawn out process where he must have had highs getting back in the team and then he keeps getting a kick in the bollocks.  I do feel for the lad - it's his career but it's also probably cost us points, who knows maybe better results in semi finals/finals along the way as well.

But I doubt that Klopp would have made that 'pain/serious pain' comment if he wasn't serious, knowing how much he protects his players from criticism.

Pardew saying he 'protects' him in training does not sound to me like proper training to then be prepared for Premier League games.

Contract though.  And probably quite a lucrative one.

Really unfortunate for him. After getting our hopes up a while back with his 'strengthening period' when they really seemed to try and nurture him back, looks like this is going to be the way of it for the remainder of the time he has left in the game.

Reading that they think it might not be serious problem ! Which made me wonder if he felt a tweak and decided to pack it in? Which is always brought up as part of his problem - not only getting injured - but not being able to play thro what might not be very serious.

Either way, can't see him in a red shirt again. And to be clinical about it, we should really have sold him in summer gone, after he had a half decent end to last season. Hard to think of any other player who is/was more fragile.

Just looked at his appearances per season. As far as I can see, out of 14 premier league seasons, he played less than 15 times in 10 of those seasons !!! Unreal.  If we're being run by moneyballers, you'd think he'd have been shipped out well before now...

Rodgers did something similar with him when he was manager here, definitely didn't have him intensely training in the same way Klopp does.

At the same time the owner's reluctance to part with the shareholder's dividend would lead them to hang on to a 'maybe' player as long as they could get away with.

Lets hope the Baggies medical insurance is paying his wages now.

BTW :  Rodgers sent Sterling off to the Caribbean for a holiday 'cos he " needed a rest".

Before R.S. sh*t on the club.

Reports that he will out till April. We all could have predicted the outcome of his initial minor strain. :-\

I doubt he gdts any meaningful game time with WBA.
