      Absolute legend.

We have been so fortunate to have had a player of this quality at Liverpool. Made an instant impact and proved his goal scoring ability. One of the greatest strikers of all time. Scored some absolute wonders.

Rode a wave of criticism from a large portion of our vocal fan base who lambasted him from the start for being a former Chelsea player. Ignorant labels such as "lazy" were thrown at him, and repeatedly so when he went through his most difficult periods of injury. Some of the ignorant made up the most ridiculous nonsense to add more fire to his struggles and claimed that his injuries were in his head. They label him "made of glass" and pretend that he is dead as a player.

Hopefully he will get another chance to show his ability elsewhere.

Yet despite it all, he's walked out with his head held high, memories of the Champions League triumph, and nothing but love for Liverpool FC. What an example!!  One of our greatest. Thank you Danny! Good luck for the future!!  xxxxx:action-smiley-065:

I can't ever remember this 'large portion of our fanbase' criticising him for being a former Chelsea player. Truth be told I can't even remember a tiny miniscule minority either.

I think that's all in your head.

To be fair to DanMann I've seen a fair bit of criticism thrown Danny's way over his time here from our own supporters.

Not so much the Chelsea stuff he mentioned but the 'lazy' tag and attitude problems that I don't ever think were there.

Also got a bit of criticism for injuries and getting paid a fortune for sitting on the bench, flash cars etc etc.

For me he's one of the finest strikers to play for us ability wise and his scoring record will stand up with the best of them.

Injuries robbed us of what could have been remembered as one of the greats.

Classy guy, actually do we have any players who are not really good lads in real life?

To be fair to those who did criticise him probably did so because I think We all know that this lad has a level of finishing that few ever attain and it was his injuries that prevented him from being a World class player. He was on fire back with Suarez .
It must have been very frustrating for him these past few years I hope he gets more game time and we see his dance again against CITY, UTD and the blueshite

Unfortunate for Danny, he could have been a Liverpool great, but his body had other ideas.

Aside from one great season next to Luis he was limited to the injury and subs bench.

Scored a few worldies for us we won't forget.

Best of luck in your next club Stu.

His all round play in this clip is off the chart. I remember thinking he was as good as SuĆ”rez that season and couldnā€™t believe we had two unbelievable front players.

Iā€™ll always be a Sturridge fan.

I've never thought him lazy or arrogant (in a bad way as i want arrogant strikers)...he's always been a team guy, always respected the club and you can tell how much the young guys looked up to him.

Nothing but fond memories for me.

Quoted for truth. Always wear my Sturridge jersey with pride. The guy was an amazing talent and it's a shame injuries derailed his career the way they did. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

I remember him as a kid on loan to Bolton scoring goals I would imagine he is far more frustrated with his last few seasons than we are.
A good man and I wish him the very best and lots of goals against City,UTD and the blueshite

Crazy to think that he is only 29, a time where he should be in his peak (27-31). Such a shame we never got to see that :(
