He is but if I'm in charge of recruitment at some Premier League clubs I'm looking into taking Sturridge on even if it's a short term deal.

The guy is a born goalscorer and the big clubs might not take the chance but there should be at least 14 clubs showing on interest in my opinion.

The only way I would do that is on a pay as you play basis and Sturridge would not accept that knowing how brittle he is, or maybe he would, depends how desperate he is to play.

He is yes, but the type of injuries he tended to get only kept him out of LFC team, wouldnt necessarily keep him out of others. If you get me. ?

Even if he was a sub for someone, his class would shine through, give him last 20mins, give him some chances he will score.

Still a free agent isn't he? I know he's only just turned 31 but it wouldn't surprise me if he hung his boots up for good. Last few years he's struck me as somebody who's sadly fell out of love with the game a bit. I know he's really into his music & fashion so he might end up pursuing those interests as I can't see him staying in football once he does retire.

Reminds me a bit of Owen towards the end, he had his stables & other things outside of football and you could see that his heart wasn't really there like it was during his earlier years. Both of course plagued by injury issues too

There were rumors that MLS side were looking at him and I think with his shooting and finishing ability combined with MLS lack of quality keepers he would do a decent job.

A few mates who are in a band were recording some stuff at Parr St studios in Liverpool city centre a few years back said they saw him in there once with his boys, as you said apparently he was into the production side & making beats. Me mate asked him if he was recording the new Anfield Rap  :lmao:

Personally I'd be tempted but the reality is we'd constantly be worried about his fitness.

There's a reason he doesn't have a club at the moment.

Worrying thing is, even a half fit Sturridge is a better option than Origi. Despite the injury issues, Sturridge is in the top class bracket for finishing, few can score the goals he can.

To answer you properly Brian if I'm the manager of us right now, and he flies through a fitness test I'm signing him on a short term contract.

Even pay as you play or some sort of highly incentivised contract that limits our outlay.

Thats it summed up. 2 or 3 games in Jan cover the loss of the lads, few games off the bench in between to cover injury ir if the 4 lads need a rest. Id be all over it

We dont seem to be producing inhouse goal machines lstely that can step in, either loaned out or just not trusted yet
