Liverpool 3-0 Sunderland: In-game and post-match waffling

Extremely comfortable win tonight. The acid test will be against the scum. Great couple of results though, should relieve some of the pressure that was on BR and will be interested to see how he uses Sturridge. Happy new year to be sure !!!

Probably the best all round 90 minutes so far under Brendan Rodgers. It's great to see a full match stitched to perfection like that. Excellent days work for Liverpool FC!

Play like that week in week out we will be winning trophies soon enough! Add another striker (done!) and a really top draw midfielder and we will look amazing!

I think I seen someone mention it during the match, but when Brendan took over here he was talking about his philosophy and described it as "death by football".

That is what we are capable of and that is why we need to keep faith in this project.

Back to back 3-0 wins playing both teams off the park, say what you want about the opposition, we can only beat whats in front of us.

I found this enjoyable.

Can't pick out a poor performance, everyone was on top of their game.

I really hope we stick with Lucas and Gerrard in the deep role, with Allen/Henderson higher up. Gerrard has played his best games in that spot and is incredibly dangerous with his long passes.

Now let's see what Sturridge can do in this team.

9pts from 12, and 3 clean sheets, if only we'd turned up against Stoke and Villa

Reina very solid, as were the back four, Gerrard was brilliant, as was Allen when he came on. What composure by Sterling for his goal, and if Messi is worth £200m, then Suarez is worth £201m right now.

Bit more of a final ball from Henderson, and Shelvey may have to start getting used to bench warming for a while. Still think it may be too little too late for Downing, which is a shame, because he's really starting to motor.

When are commentators going to recognise that we do have the ability to make other teams look terrible?

Highlight for me was the way our midfielders and attackers were all interchanging and interlinking. Our movement was brilliant, and our work off the ball is also starting to get noticed.

I was so thoroughly fed up with everything after Stoke, and even started questioning the gaffer. But I don't think you can really ask for a better response.

Terrific win, not just the scoreline but the all round performance. O.K. it was only Sunderlaand, but it was only Stoke! and it was only Villa !  We can do it with style, and we can match anyone on the day, we just need consistency. Made up, another small step towards 4th, which incidently, I had written off after the Villa game. Just gonna wallow in this now, and rip the piss out of a few rent boys, just to finish off a good night.

Very pleased with that tonight. 

The performance, the attitude, the energy, the drive and determination all over the pitch was a delight to watch.

Keep that up lads and who knows what we can achieve.

I've never seen a player with as much desire as Suarez. Hes like a Dirk Kuyt on speed.

This. I thought he was absolutely outstanding. His positioning was sensational, his creativity as ever out of the world and his finishing just sublime. The Sunderland defence will be having nightmares for weeks to come over him!

Bit undecided with motm, May be Surez will win it, but I went for Gerrard as I haven't seen him boss a game like that all season. Perhaps he's back in his stride for the rest of the year now. Good to see, and long may it continue. Oh, chuffed for Carra as well, still too slow now, but what a servant.

Suarez as MOTM because he was involved with every goal (You may argue Gerrard was too) but for me the second goal showed Suarez class and claimed that he is not a diver!!!!

Excellent performance. Gerrard and Suarez totally dominated with Suarez just edging m.o.t.m. Need to show we can give this level of performance against teams that compete rather than just turn up. Given me a little hope for the mancs game now, win that and we will really be flying.

Delighted with the result ....still unsure if we can replicate the performance against better sides. 

I see Stewart Downing has got himself showered and logged on quickly to get his MoM vote in.

Joking aside everybody played well tonight and when that happens the system does actually look awesome.
