FIFA and the All-La Liga World 11 Team
      Jan 08, 2013 10:41:38 am
Quote from: After FIFA name an all-La Liga World XI, we ask... what would your Premier League team be to take on Spain's finest?

It is the game that would settle the debate once for all – the best Premier League XI taking on the best players from La Liga over two legs.
FIFA’s world team of the year, announced in Zurich last night, sparked the idea after it was comprised entirely of players from La Liga.

There are five players from Barcelona, five from Real Madrid and one from Atletico Madrid.
Incredibly there is no room for the superstars from the Premier League such as Vincent Kompany, YaYa Toure, Sergio Aguero, Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard or David Silva.

Now there is a swell of support to settle the score by selecting the best from each league to battle it out for supremacy over two legs.
Just like the Davis Cup, the leagues could choose the venue for the match to suit them – then we might really find out if Messi can do it on a wet, windy Tuesday night at the Britannia.

Alternatively, the Premier League XI could fill Old Trafford or Wembley for one of the most appetising fixtures in history.
Would La Liga XI really pass the Premier League all-stars off the park, or would the silky, refine skills of David Silva and Robin van Persie turn it into a purists’ dream?
Judging by the FIFA team of the year, this is the side the best of the Premier League would face in one match played in England and the other hosted by Spain.

I reckon Fifa are right, that team is spot on and would probably hammer any premier league gobs***e XI. Messi, Ronaldo, Xabi and Xavi all in the one team, would be F***ing mouth-watering!!

Funny how it's the Daily Mail bitching about it as well.

      Nah.
The front 3 is without question and the mid 3 is probably about right, but that back 4 and keeper is just lazy voting.

      From twitter. Linked to Marca.
What strikes me most there is the comparable home representation Premier League XI vs La Liga XI.

Have to agree, Alves is probably not Barcelona's first choice right back at the moment. the excusion of Lahm and Alba is a puzzle.

Here's a working link to replace the previous twitter version.

      From the German League:

Neuer and Lahm deserve to be in the team.
Hummels has won back to back titles.
