      Yalany Baio (Released)
      Jan 09, 2013 10:14:37 am
After the success of our Next.Gen squad some of them deserve their own player threads.  Yalany has had a good season so far being involved in both under 18's/21's and the Next.Gen series.

Yalany Baio is a highly-rated defensive midfielder who arrived at the Academy from Portugal in January 2011.

The diminutive starlet is right out of the Claude Makelele-mould and is seen as a bright prospect by staff in Kirkby.

Tough in the tackle with a range of passing, Baio originates from Guinea-Bissau.

The Makelele comparisons are spot on. He may not get talked about as much as the flare players but Baio has huge potential and I'm very interested to see how he develops.

A number of clubs are tracking Liverpool midfielder Yalany Baio, Sky Sports understands.

The 19-year-old joined the Reds from Benfica in 2011, and is well thought of at Melwood.

The tough-tackling midfielder is being monitored by a number of clubs in England, whilst there is also interest from Holland and France in the Guinea-Bissau-born star.

Baio, who is out-of-contract at Anfield at the end of the season, could move out on loan.

Lee Payne of Full Contact told Sky Sports: "Yalany is a talented player, and has a great presence that would be welcome in any dressing room.

"He remains contracted to Liverpool for the time being, but in all probability may be moving on soon or in the summer.

"If that is the case, we will be looking for the right club for him, where his style of play as a tough-tackling, vocal, holding midfielder will be best served.

Does anyone know what happened to him? I remember a lot of rave reviews on this kid. Did he turn out to be sh*t?

Not s**t as such mate he just doesn't fit with our current style.  He'll be a very good player for somebody just not us as we have a lot of much better players who suit our system.

I had heard he's been having trials at Sheffield Wednesday recently but it wasn't the best time for him to be there.  They were between managers, in the relegation zone and it was probably too much of a risk to bring in a young lad with no professional experience.
