Philippe Coutinho (Inter)

Apparently we have mad a bid for Phillipe Coutinho at Inter. 

He is a 20 year old attacking midfielder from Brazil.

Saw this today too - cant see it happening..! However, if we are in talks with Inter then there could be some positives coming out of this... Iwould love this transfer, but I thought we were skint..!

But the Merseyside club may have to go beyond their initial offer to secure a player once considered the next superstar of South American football.

Aren't they all? Sadly not too many fulfil that, particular "potential". The fact that the lad has "flopped" at Inter doesn't mean he's a bad 'un tho' and shouldn't put anyone off taking a plunge. Personally speaking tho' I'd prefer to add a tad more experience to the team. Coutinho and one other wouldn't be something to be sniffed at; eh?

By the way... is there any chance of the spelling of Philippe, in the title, being corrected?

He had a very good loan spell at Espanyol last season, so it's surprising Inter don't play him.

I'd love to see this one happen!!  He looked very dangerous when Benitez played him in his time at Inter.  Didn't see much of him at Espanyol, but  Rafa rated him very highly and I personally have a lot of faith in Rafa's ability to spot talent.  If we can nab him up he will give us added pace, creativity, flair, and trickery in the final 3rd which we need. 

Think he's an average player. Alot of flair and no substance.

I don't think I can make an informed decision until someone posts a three minute highlight video of some fancy passes and a couple of goals...

Was superb when he was breaking in to the Inter team but not much since. Was a huge fan of his. No idea why no other manager other than Rafa used him.

Why not him and Wesley for 12m? Neither are being utilised at Inter and both could be great for us

Don't know if you realised but Inter rejected 8m for Coutinho and Sneijder is more than 4m

i really hope so, kinda like the feel of this rumour. He played really well under rafa.  I think under the right coach he can be very good player.

Is this another gamble on a player who can't get a regualr game at his current club, but has potential.
We seem to have shed loads of potential, but few well experienced players.

I haven't seen much of this lad at all but he has a Brazil cap at the age of 20 which is pretty impressive,I'd certainly take him over Ince for the prices been thrown around. Rafa was also a big admirer of him which can only be positive news.
