Coates getting game time in the PL or Championship on loan for 6 months is no bad thing. He's a top defender and I feel 6 months action will ready him to be our 3rd choice centre-back next season.
I'm not disagreeing mate but was wondering; if (and when) Seb comes back - do you reckon we may then loan Isimat-Mirin out; just to get games?

I've nothing against this signing (should it go ahead) but would hope that, if he comes, he won't be alone - I'd also like some others, an attacking midfielder, another striker and a left-back (maybe). Players who can contribute right now; players we don't need to wait on or loan out.

I don't really understand the big need in loaning out our centre backs. If Skrtel or Agger get injured then we're fu**ed.

Look at Man Utd. They have Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Smalling and Jones.

      Agree.

Playing Seb a bit more in Europa League and League Cup would have negated the need to loan him out for experience.

Although it could be just that Brendan doesn't rate him.

I honestly think that this is the issue.  Seb is a good player, but he is very slow and I believe that BR prefers more mobile CB's who can negate the threat of quick counter attacks.  We hold a very high line and play with split CB's when we are attacking, so a pacier CB is likely a priority for Rodgers.

I do think we will see one of Kelly or Wisdom groomed into a CB role when Kelly returns to full fitness.
