Coutinho will have to improve the defensive side of his game if there is any suggestion of him dropping into midfield, we are soft enough as it is.

There again a Naby Keita option would help immensely!

I really think having Hendo and Wijnaldum/Can in the middle with Coutinho wouldn't be a problem, and we'll more or less have the lions share of possession.

I'm not overly confident Coutinho to be here next season, every player has a price, and I can't see FSG turning down a, bid in excess of £60 million from Barca if it comes in.
Selling our top players is what we do isn't it? Or will things really change under Klopp?

I'm not so sure mate Hendo and Gini are in reality attacking midfielders, Can fair enough but we know his issues with mobility and reading the game.

I have nothing against Coutinho playing deeper but like I said he will have to improve his defensive output.
Even someone like Iniesta in the Barca 433 contributes quite a bit defensively.

That's why one of the suggestions I made related to a centre mid pairing with Coutinho in front of them rather than Coutinho as a mid 3. Keita & Can as the base 2 could be a very good partnership. I say Can over Hendo purely because of the injury issues he's been having with his foot but fingers crossed we'll be in a strong position to rotate next season with Champions League football.

He looks so much more comfortable in the middle. I think it adds a lot more unpredictability to his game rather than starting out wide and always cutting in.

Tottaly agree and that's obviously down to the manager.

Showed what we miss in the middle of the pitch a real playmaker.
The ability to pick up the ball turn on a sixpence with a drop of the shoulder and his ability to find a team mate to put us on the front foot.

Maybe all the talk of the Brazilian winger suggests that Coutinho will drop into midfield next season.

I may be on my own here but I think the lad's gone, the way he's played lately reminds me of Luis' last season, as though he's trying to leave on a high and leave a good taste in the mouth.

      I hope I'm wrong like.

Or he could most probably just be doing the job he's paid very handsomely to do?

They dont have money to sign him.
Last week Mundodeportivo was proudly announcing that they have 70 million EUROS to sign players this summer...
They're allway talking about Coutinho, Dybala and Verrati when Barca is underperforming.
Is just a way to calm down the fans.

So what do you guys think the midfield will look like next season if Coutinho is dropped in it ?
If the Keita rumours are true I think that Lallana - Keita - Coutinho would look pretty nice but where would that leave Henderson Can and Gini ? At least depth won't be an issue.

Coutinho is much better though the middle. We all know that. Brendan knew it. Now Klopp has to figure it out

Always thought his best position was through the middle.

He played really well in the middle, from the brief highlights, I saw on Motd last night.

Whats your thoughts on the wee man under Jürgen?

He definitely looked more comfortable when [under BR] he was played at the tip of the 'triangle' or even at the tip of the diamond. Maybe at the times we revert to either, we will see the best from him.

Personally I like the thought of him playing alongside Wijnaldum and just behind a front three
of Firmino Sturridge and Mane (possibly at home) in a 4-1-2-3 or alone, just behind that front three, with two behind.
      August 2016, you say?

      Ahem... you're welcome. 😄

Joking aside... Phil is a phenomenal inside forward, left or right [10 or 8 for younger reds]. I have no doubt that, should Barca (for e.g.) sign him, this is where they would use him. Put another way - he wouldn't be used as a wide man. 🙄
