it's not really semantics, it's just a simple question: who is deserving of being paid more than Coutinho?

and I never said that his performance was good.  No one performed well yesterday.

But if you consider performances to be a key factor in pay, then I'm left speechless if you truly think that Henderson, who regularly goes missing both in games big and small, is more deserving based on his "performances."  Just go have a look through the posts in his thread from last season to see how many times people said he went missing, again and again and again.  The idea that Milner, who has literally played on one game for us, would be deserving of higher wages than Coutinho, is also mind-boggling.

No one in our squad is perfect.  Coutinho goes missing on occasion as well.  But with him it's more the exception rather than the rule, whereas with Henderson it's part of his DNA.

And I honestly couldn't be arsed with how many goals Coutinho scores---that's not part of why I think he should be highest paid.  It's because of the way he controls the games, the way he pulls the strings and finds the passes again and again and again.  the goals are just the cherry on top.

So yes.  Pay is based on a lot of things.  And Coutinho checks off all three: best/most talented player at the club, most consistent performances, greatest influence on our games.

No one else even comes close to be honest.

Coutinho, consistent? If anything, his shot being on target was inconsistent, as his he, generally.  Several other factors why Hendo is on more, but keep on coming, your inane ramblings are providing joy in a house that needs some right now and not just Liverpool fans laughing.

Would probably struggle to fight his way out of a paper bag.

      Now that's just mean! :lmao:

You can't help but love him. I can't believe how much his shooting has improved over the past 12-18 months. There were times when he shots were barely reaching the net, going on target or even getting through the gaps in a defence.

      But you don't disagree? ;)

For sure though, he was constantly dragging them wide before. Reminded me of the days when Gerrard used to rifle one into the net from distance.

I'm going to agree with you for two reasons 1. You're right and 2. Coutinho is too soft to do anything about it :D

I bet Wilshere was shitting himself here...

Anyone noticed that after he scored, he wanted to get the ball? Firmino managed to nab it for a few seconds before the ref came in and intervened. Someone must be pregnant? :o

What's so confusing?  I want Klopp to come here and be our manager.  I think under him Coutinho could become one of the best players in the world.

That photo was from the day we twatted them 5-1.  Four in the first half alone.  Coutinho ran the show yet again.  What a day that was.

Or he was trying to get the ball to waste some time so Stoke couldn't run back to midfield with it?

Who said it was confusing?  Cuntish and unnecessary, yes. Confusing, not in the slightest. It's de rigueur for you and your posting style.  As I said, been showing your posts to some friends and family today, been a stressful day. You provided some laughs.  At you mind, not with you and a memorable quote from my Uncle, A west Ham fan - 'I hope he's tee-total, alcohol is a depressant and he's a miserable **** as it is'.

Any signings which happen under a manager are that managers players. As such, whether or not Brendan wanted Ballotelli he's BRENDAN'S signing in my eyes simply because he didn't protest loud enough. Similarly, Lovren is Brendan's, as is Lallana. So though is Coutinho, and at 8 million quid he was an inspired purchase.

What we should do though, and should have done months ago, is rip up Phil's contract and double his money. 70K a week in today's football is a joke for a player of his talent. We should at least double it and get the old 50 million buy out clause in there while we're at it.

      £50m?

Look I have no idea what Sterling's real value is.  I happen to one of the few who actually rated him and think he is already a cracking player.

But if Sterling is worth £50m in this market then surely Coutinho is worth at least £75m.

      at LEAST.

I want Klopp too, but Brendan is our manager and even if we doubt him or simply don't like his style, we can only back him and hope he improves in the future and learns from his mistakes. You can't just wish that our team has bad results so he gets the sack and Klopp comes in, that's just mental. Suarez flourished under Brendan, so can Coutinho.

      Sterling's value??
Ask any of the citeh supporters who booed him off at full time.
Ask any LFC supporter who looked on as the little f**ker and his agent dragged this club through the dirt.
Ask Pellegrini who hangs on to his job by the skin of his teeth, he will tell you he could be worth £100m along with the first flying pig in order to big-up his decision to waste £49m on the flop.

      Talking through your arse again.

so a player can be considered a flop after playing one league game for a new club.... ok, I'll remember that...

Anyway, that's not the point.  I have no idea what Sterling's true value is.  But what I'm saying is that IF in this market Sterling is worth £49m, then Coutinho, who is already much better than him, has to be worth at least £75m, and we should have that (at minimum) as the release clause in his contract.

£50m for Coutinho is just not even close to being enough.

Sterling showed glimpses of his capabilities the season before last, he has been played subsequently in a more forward role and been gash.
During the gash interval he and his agent have behaved in the most unprofessional manner imaginable, it can only be assumed to engineer a more lucrative deal for them both at whichever club was foolish enough to part with the dosh.

There was only one candidate, for reasons that have very little in common with footballing kudos.

Yet you compare Sterling and Coutinho, as advised go and lie down.

edit: The ultimate profession that is Philippe Coutinho pledged his love and loyalty to LFC last season and shows none of the cuntish traits displayed by Sterling.
A player acquired for an astonishing £8m by a manager you think should be replaced.
