I wonder where we fit into the whole saga? I'm guessing he hasn't hit certain clauses in his contract that would mean we get paid the full fee.

Also Bayern love these types of deals but very rarely end up buying.

Think only 2 clauses are unfulfilled, i.e. Barca winning CL, that too gives the club 4.4 million, other one is that of 100 appearances, 4.4 million for that too.

F***ing shithouse. Hope his career goes even more backwards. All that fuss and hassle he caused us to get his dream move to then so easily move on from Barca.

Oh and Coutinho, it’s only a season loan you dumb f**k.

I get people having no sympathy for him he doesn't deserve it personally but I do think it's a sad situation, Jürgen warned him against it he could have easily helped us to to 2 CL titles and the Prem.
You can argue we wouldn't have signed both VVD and Alisson but it's a waste of talent I would have liked him back can see why Klopp and the club wouldn't want him, Emre Can has done exactly the same, not as good as Couts but Can was a big head who thought he was bigger than Liverpool

Kind of an odd thing for the boss to say. Are we skint?

I think it’s the 120m option to buy at the end of the loan. Doesn’t sound like Coutinho is expecting to go back to Barca after it, that’s what I think Klopp was referring to.

No way Bayern are going to pay 120m either.

Especially as they will likely buy Sane next Summer.

Coutinho will go the way of James will be another loan to Bayern next season then he will end up leaving Barca on a free in three years.

The deal offered to English clubs was more expensive than what Bayern was offered.
20M loan fee plus wages v 8M loan fee plus wages.

It's no wonder the Liverpool and Spurs walked away from it.

Both their own and their agents doing. Leave them too it as they most definitely won't be returning here under Klopp.

Klopp was spot on with his comment when Coutinho left:

"I told him stay here (at Liverpool) and they will end up building a statue in your honour. Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more.”

Let's not think this is true for all cases. You have Xabi Alonso, Suarez, and Mashcerano, who've won a lot. You may have a point in case of how it would've impacted their own status among the fans (had they stayed), but as for silverware, you can see the facts for that.

As Skip was saying, the old saying was "The only way was down".
It wasn't like that for years because of the state LFC was in and the draw of the big Spanish clubs,
hence Alonso, Suarez, Mascherano, leaving. The perfect storm of club in crisis and Barca/Madrid.

Now though it's starting to look like Klopp has achieved his aim to make players view LFC as their end destination and not a stepping stone. Of course the club will need to build on that, in all areas.
