I think Brendan is using Downing in a similar fashion to the way Rafa used Reiera, for transition and to add width rather than as a match winner.

I am excited to see what Coutinho has to offer, and I can see why Downing is starting, he has been better than Sterling lately.

Surely Swansea will be fined for putting out such a weakened team.If we can't beat this Swansea team this forum and twitter will go into meltdown and rightly so.

That is a very weakened Swansea team. They are clearly resting their key players for the final. We should win comfortably, nothing else is acceptable as far as I'm concerned...

Downing will hold position most and give some width in the attacking four but the others especially Luis and Coutinho will interchange quite a bit.

Sterling is burning out a bit, I fear. Downing has been hitting form and actually doing something he never used to do - taking on players.

As far as our defensive record is concerned, it is just a matter of trying to out score the opposition, easier said than done!

Sorry mate but a problem is he did well and the result as a team still never near an acceptable level, that's what people say he's not a quality of LFC player.

In theory so were our sides against WBA and Zenit, but we still somehow managed to.

Was always going to be Downing or Henderson that came out. Downing hasn't set the world on fire
but I always thought that when Coutinho came it it would be for Henderson.

I hope to see him swapping with Suarez or filling the space created by Suarez.
