Surprised to see Henderson on the bench. Thought he was having a really good run of form.

Had the same reaction really, otherwise the team pretty much picked itself.

I still can't understand how Downing gets into this team week in week out especially instead of Hendo, on this occasion.

Nevertheless, predicting a comfy 3-1 win for us with Luis bagging 2 and Stevie scoring another screamer.

      YNWA!!

I see sideways Allen has got the nod over Henderson, teachers pet springs to mind.

Think BR sees Hendo as an attacking player though mate and obviously Allen as a holding mid. Wonder how it'd work with the one holding (Lucas) with Gerrard and Hendo in the middle, Coutinho on the left, Downing *sighs* on the right and Suarez up top?

I remember a certain Mr Leiva being called Lucas Sidewalker a few years back.

I know not all players turn out to fantastic after a couple of years grinding away at it, but in his early games for us, Allen looked really, really good.

I've personally laid off him, and hope he can regain form, though I appreciate he can be massively frustrating!

I'm glad Allen's playing, there's nothing to lose in this game so give him a run-out, let's see what he's made of..

Why the sighs with Downing? Lately he has been a very solid attacking player who has worked hard to keep his place in the team. He has played well and deserves a bit of a break.

It's been 2 months since Suso's last appearance. I'd like to see one today, think Suarez, Coutinho and the lad could link up well.

Same lineup versus Zenit last week except with Coutinho in for Henderson on the wing isn't it?  Disappointed Sturridge is a no go.  Still think Henderson offers more in the middle than Allen as a partner to Gerrard but Allen himself is coming off a good performance against Zenit.  Regardless, expecting a good result here.  C'mon Reds! He has yeah, but at the same time he's been so stop-start since he arrived that I personally just don't have the confidence in him to perform week in week out. Just a matter of personal opinion mate.

Looking forward to this, think it will be a good game to watch. Glad to see Coutinho starting again, he looks to be a very exciting respect.
As has been said, surprised to see Allen starting. Looking for 3-0.

Don't think Allen should have got the nod, happy with the team bar that.

People who think Allen is just a sideways/backwards passer need to check their facts and watch him in games. He passes forward quite a lot (more than Lucas and Henderson to an extent). He is a great recycler of possession and is always on the move.

Think BR sees Hendo as an attacking player though mate and obviously Allen as a holding mid. Wonder how it'd work with the one holding (Lucas) with Gerrard and Hendo in the middle, Coutinho on the left, Downing *sighs* on the right and Suarez up top?

Nope, BR's said time and again that he'd like to play Allen in a more forward role.

Expect to see him attacking more than Lucas & Gerrard.

Of course it is a personal opinion but just seems more like you're getting on the lad's back more than voicing a neutral opinion. Most of our squad has been stop start this season, might need a few more sighs in your next new match thread post.

I agree with you. Not sure what Henderson did to deserve being dropped but lets hope Brendan's tactics work out today.

Well yeah, I'd like to see Henderson in that team and if that means at the expense of Downing I'd have no problem with that.
