LFC announce new 6-tier ticket plan
      Mar 08, 2013 03:27:02 pm
Liverpool FC have announced a new six-tier ticket structure for 2013-14 to allow more accurate ticket pricing according to seat, location and view.

This move will see some ticket prices reduce while other seats with the best match-day view and location will be priced more appropriately to reflect their position in the stadium and match view.

The club also announced, for the second season running, that all Kop tickets will reduce or remain flat.

As part of the club's long-term strategy to keep tickets for juniors affordable, Liverpool is introducing a £5 children's ticket for selected Premier League games.  The club successfully trialled this approach earlier this season in home cup games and it proved successful with an increase in children attending matches.

Following a major investment in the family areas at Anfield this season, Liverpool also announced it will reduce junior season tickets for kids aged 16 and under by nearly 30 per cent.

Ian Ayre, LFC managing director, said: "Over the past two years, the club has given careful consideration to ticket prices and pricing structures in consultation with the Supporters Committee.

"Following last year's price freeze, this year we have reviewed our overall stadium pricing structure and, similar to many other Premier League clubs, from next season we will also be introducing a multiple-tier pricing structure which will more accurately reflect seat location and view.  This new approach to ticket price points at Anfield will see all Kop tickets reduce or remain flat in price for the second year in succession."

He added: "As part of our planned approach to making Anfield more accessible to families, earlier this season we invested over £1million in a new Family Zone area and Family Park at Anfield.  These areas were designed to keep junior Reds entertained before and after the match and it's great to see so many kids enjoying the new spaces we have created for them.

"We will be introducing a number of junior ticket price points to make Anfield more affordable for families including a new low £5 children's ticket for selected Premier League games.  We hope that by reducing junior pricing and making more tickets available, we'll see even more of our youngest fans at Anfield."

The majority of away fan prices will be reduced or held flat.

      Its a positive step....

But one bit of bad news (for me) - my MS season ticket, because it is Cat 1 - has just gone up £70 or 9% to £850
      - and no chance of taking up a kids seat, as they are not MS (and after 4 years, he is a magnificent 23,000 ish on the waiting list)

Still, a good news story overall

Majority of tickets seems to have gone up, seems to be only the edge blocks of the kop that get the reduction.

Was actually expecting an increase, so a little bit happy.

Although that stuff about the kids tickets is more PR bluff, doesn't exactly say a lad of 14 or 15 could go up and get a ticket for a £5, it'll only apply if they are a part of an adult and child ticket, which in my view is more bullshit from the club.

I'd of liked some sort of 16-18 or 16-21 ticket price, as I've had to pay full price as a 16 and a 17 year old this season, and its F***ing expensive.

A 16-21 price would have been better, I agree.

I imagine there are loads of people that age who could go and watch the game with a few mates instead of going through that adult + child sh*te.

Just how much is a adult + child ticket now & will the cost of such tickets be reduced by how much?

Very surprised about the number of you seemingly 'happy with this'.

Take it you haven't got a seat in the Main Stand or Centenary Stand then?  Let's see what supporters like el batez thinks about this 'great news'.

All in all - LFC have put prices up by about £1M a season.

All this in a season when they will get an EXTRA £30M from TV money.

Cool nice little £15 quid off next season's price!!

Excellent.  Remind me again how much your season ticket was 3 seasons ago in 2009/10 when we were a Champions League club?

LFC ruled this out in the last committee meeting.

      Probably about £40 quid less

But if you'd been going in the cup games this and last season you'd already know they've been trialling this.

I paid £10 less than some in the kop for the Man City semi last season! I'm not happy at the raised prices, the fact they're taking the piss over kids tickets, as a club we've wiped out half of our young support, unless of course they have someone to take them!! You'd have to have had your head buried deep in the sand to actually not see it coming, some on here did predict this way back when this lot took over pointing to the way tiered pricing was used in Boston.

I used little happy, because I should just be able to afford it, although I'm not trying to rub it in to anyone else.

We've known the club don't give a F**k about the hardcore loyal support, we're just F***ing customers now, we can all be easily replaced by those happy to make a long trip and spend shitloads in the club store and ground!

Liverpool FC: Fans call season ticket rise insulting
Liverpool FC fans say next year's season ticket rises are an "insult" to loyal supporters, despite a freeze on ticket prices for the Kop.

The club announced a six-tier pricing system, which will see prices increase by up to 9% in some areas of the ground

Fans group Spirit of Shankly called the increases inflation busting.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre, said the club gave "careful consideration" to ticket prices and pricing over the past two years.

The most expensive full adult ticket for the 2013-14 season will be £850 an increase of just over 5%. The cheapest season ticket sells at £710.

Liverpool FC said season tickets in the Kop will remain level or reduced. The cheapest season tickets at neighbours Everton will be £427 next season.

      'Too high'
Spirit of Shankly said: "In the midst of austerity, with redundancies and cutbacks a daily reality for many supporters, these inflation-busting price rises are an insult to long-standing supporters who have already suffered a massive 716% price rise since 1989.

"While the announcement regarding Kop season tickets is a relief to many, it is our belief that ticket prices are already too high, pricing out many of those that kept the club on its feet during its darkest days."

However Mr Ayre, defended the changes saying: "Over the past two years the club has given careful consideration to ticket prices and pricing structures in consultation with the Supporters Committee.

"Following last year's price freeze, this year we have reviewed our overall stadium pricing structure and, similar to many other Premier League clubs, from next season we will also be introducing a multiple-tier pricing structure which will more accurately reflect seat location and view."

Liverpool currently has the ninth most expensive season tickets in the Premier League, with Arsenal season tickets selling at £1,955.

This only gets you in to 19 games. Sorry, but piss off.

What is jaw dropping is the fact that there has been a 716% rise in prices since 1989.
