      2013 Memorial Service
      Mar 25, 2013 01:17:41 pm
Been waiting for this info for a few weeks so I can order my tickets.

Be great to meet up with some forum members again this year.

      Hillsborough Memorial Service details
      25th Mar 2013 - Latest News

The Hillsborough Family Support Group will mark the 24th anniversary of the tragedy that cost 96 fans their lives with a memorial service at Anfield on April 15.
      Hillsborough

The service will commence at 2.45pm prompt with access to the stadium possible from 1pm. A one-minute's silence will be observed at 3.06pm and the service will conclude at around 3.30pm with the singing of You'll Never Walk Alone.

In the interests of safety, all those wishing to attend the memorial service must obtain a free ticket in advance - see below.

Margaret Aspinall, chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, said: "Every day we remember those who lost their lives. During the service we will light a candle for each and every life that was extinguished prematurely and the eternal flame of the Hillsborough memorial will continue to light our way through the darkest days.

"For many, April 15 may be a working day and there will be those who are unable to attend. We invite you to join us in thought and spirit and keep us in your prayers at this difficult time."

      How to obtain a ticket

Tickets to the 24th Hillsborough Memorial Service can be obtained free of charge by phoning the LFC ticket office on 0843 170 5555 (overseas 0044 151 907 9399), by postal application to Liverpool Football Club ticket office, PO Box 204, Liverpool, L69 3JF, or by visiting the ticket office at Anfield.

Should you require disabled access then please advise accordingly when making your application.

Please note there will be a restriction of four tickets per application, but the club will be sensitive in exceptional cases to requests for larger numbers.

Liverpool FC welcomes all attendees; however, please note no prams or pushchairs will under any circumstances be allowed into the stadium. The club asks you to please keep this in mind if you are bringing young children to the service.

The club also requests that everyone arrives early as the service will start promptly at 2.45pm.

      23 years of lies.
      Muck sticks.
      Innocent fans died.
      Innocent fans were blamed.
The vested interests tried to destroy Liverpool.

Never mind the rebuilding on the pitch.
So much has been taken from the souls of the families.
Has a process started to allow justice to follow the truth?

I hope the families start to find peace.
I hope they can again enjoy Liverpool FC,
Even if the road has been long and the journey is not over.

      Relentless Scousers.

      RIP the 96.

Quite understandable mate that you should feel totally involved with the raw emotion and horrific images confronting you, then to hear about the multi-tiered conspiracy from the police and the government to absolve them from any responsibility and blame the victims is beyond the realms of credibility.

Can you imagine tho for some time following the disaster the public were exposed to documentaries of comparative horror but went on to reinforce the police lies and corruption - this on national TV.
The nation was subject to subliminal messages about Liverpool and it's people with more than a little help from the Tory government with Thatcher at the helm, this went on for decades and the Hillsborough disaster and the lies were almost set in stone.
Consider the determination and pain needed to confront and dismantle this obscenity and give the victims peace and justice; the Families have sacrificed everything in their quest for the truth and after 23 years they are being rewarded with their prize...their loved ones can rest in peace.

Will watch this soon. I have to prepare myself before watching stuff on it though.

When I get too in to Hillsborough it can affect me. I feel like walking out my house and finding trouble so I can tw*t somebody. Whether that be by reading in here, reading about it in the papers or watching TV programmes about it, it makes me that F***ing angry.

So if that's how it makes me feel - how angry must the families and people directly affected by it be? With all of the things that have gone on ON TOP OF THE INITIAL GRIEF!

      Surreal.

Bill Kenwright was excellent, as has Everton throughout the whole thing.

I kind of felt this service was a bit lighter than in previous years. Not that it was light-hearted -- it probably never will be -- but that there was a greater sense of relief know that the truth is officially out. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Was good to hear both Kenwright and Phil Scraton alongside Margaret Aspinall.

Also good to see Anne Williams there.  The real Iron Lady.

Just watched Kenwright's speech, beautiful words, if anything it goes on to show the greatness of Everton FC. As an outsider I really appreciate the togetherness shown by the city as a whole.

Echo everyone's thoughts about Bill Kenwrights speech. Was really moving.

Was tough going in there today but when you're in the Kop, you'll never walk alone. Great to see a good few blues and other fans there today.

As always it was a touching service today at Anfield. However today felt happier (if that's the right word) than previous years.

I've never found a good word to say about the fella before today, but Bill Kenwright I can only thank you for your words today. And the Merseyside chant was just as moving. I was actually with a blue today, first time I've experienced the service with an Evertonian, and they were just as emotional as me.

Just watched the service and can only echo the words on here about how well Bill Kenwright spoke. Also Phil Scraton who has worked so hard on the quest for the truth to be heard.

As always an emotional occasion and the first time my wife has watched the whole service and is really understanding why the search for truth and justice is so important.

I listened to it this morning while I was at work. I told my coworkers that I was busy for the hour so I could listen without being interrupted. The only thing is I had to continue to do my work, but I was glad I was at least able to listen.

I echo everyone's posts about Bill Kenwright's speech.

Was at the Service yesterday and agree with others that it was less sombre than previous years.  The mood was still emotional but more "relaxed" than usual.

Bill's speech was excellent and the exchanges he had with Margaret showed it came from the heart.  Phil too, when he spoke, was powerful and emotional.  Wouldn't expect anything else from him though.  I thought the occasion got to John Henry, which was surprising but good to see both him and Tom at the Service.

I really wanted that to be Kenny up there addressing the families the way Kenwright did.
Henry, as an outsider, looked out of place. Fair play to him for getting up and saying a few words,
but he's not the representative I would have liked to see up there given the significance of the last year.

I agree mate, he did look and appear out of place somehow.

Think they might be saving Kenny for next year  ;)

Watched the Service last night - moving as always and some touching words from Bill Kenwright.

Was at the Hillsborough Service myself, great effort from everyone involved in that one.
