Great result and a massive 3 points against a team who are fighting to stay up.
Kudos to the reds for coming back out in the second half with a never say die attitude.some really good performances today but my motm goes to Coutinho who was instrumental in everything good today.
      Well in reds.

Great result, especially coming from one down. Pretty poor first half, not getting close enough to the man on the ball, and leaving them too much room to get the passes away. Second half, closed down better, stopped them playing and took controll. Good all round second half, everyone working their nuts off and what a different side we looked. Made up with that, was always unsure about this one, bit nery at the end. Last 10 we  dropped back a bit too deep, but generally defended well. Credit to the lads for the second half effort.

I think Downing was kept on to save him from the reception he would of got if he was taken off, probably would have destroyed his confidence.

Game could have gone either way. Defence still looked shaky though, I hope Carra would stay on another season. Very happy with Coutinho's performance, one with the vision and skills to make the final killer pass.

Good come back lads, not a pretty performance and you really can see why this Villa team could go down because after going 2-1 down they sunk out of sight and offered nothing as a threat.

Game of 2 halves in more ways than just the scoreline, because in their half we were very good, in our half we were very bad.

Thought Coutinho, despite that miss, was outstanding. His and Luis' understanding and ability shone through the entire match, they both deserved a goal and probably both should of scored but still great displays by both of them and I'm buzzing how good they could become.

Downing showed why he should be part-exchanged because going back to his old club you'd expect something but he did absolutely nothing all game, from the first minute when he had a sh*te shot when he should of passed, crap little step on the ball lay offs and a poor free-kick would suggest he couldn't be arsed. I don't think it was that he couldn't be arsed, I just think he's just that bad unfortunately and hopefully Brendan's "he's been brilliant" is just a marketing ploy.

Glen Johnson was worse though, how we're missing Kelly to come in and let Glen get his head on straight because he was shocking.

Hendo did what he does and made a great run for his goal which I'd love to see more from him, that 'take a chance' attitude is something he needs to add and it was a really good finish which like others I had confidence he would just slot it home. Needs to still be more positive with his contributions and distributions, great energy as always though.

Lucas and Gerrard did well I thought and we didn't really have any trouble in the centre of the park, it was defensively where we were all at a sea and that can be highlighted by when Gerrard had to clear off the line from a corner when Hendo was picking up Benteke. That's just a mismatch and really does show that the work isn't being done on the coaching because that should never happen on a set piece.

Great come back though lads, something we haven't seen enough of and hope continues.

Happy with the result and performance. Stevie, Luis, Coutinho as usual. Special praise goes to Henderson and Downing here for working as hard as it gets. Congrats to the boss also. Thought he was right to make the sub as Coutinho was very much tired and a defensive liability at the time.

Well in interviews he seems to be quite confident these days, plus he occassionally takes someone on. For him, thats confidence. ;)

Played crap and won the game. Makes a change.
Glad we got 3 points, not going into the negatives, lets hope a week in Melwood gets us back on track.

Teams that reach objectives win even when playing badly. Good win, 3 points is all i care about for now.
      Skipper motm
Lucas in a bad run, he is clearly nor fully fit
Stuey back to his average self after some above average performances
Hendo is improving, and very applied tactically
      Glen is over rated methinks
Carra had an ok game considering he had to cover for johno
Agger would be a great defensive midfielder, but i dont like him as a cb
      Enrique had a good game
Coutinho is class, and i look forward to seeing him fully fit
Suarez was greedy, but forwards are expected to be. Specially whe you are the only atracking option. His finishing today was nit the best. Still worked his ass off and got a pen and should have had another assist( coutinho)

      Job done, next match please

We weren't brilliant but we weren't anywhere near as bad as many are saying we were. Should've won by more.

Over the 90 minutes we were the better side and deserved to win

In the second half we put pressure on them all over the field, our midfield made it a lot more difficult for them, and it made the difference between us winning and losing.

That said, they still had far to many good chances. If they had had a little bit of luck, we could of been 3-0 down at half time.

I am sure naturals love to watch Liverpool right now, there are always lots of chances at either end

We weren't great.  Considering where Villa are that's the second time this season we've made them look like a top 6 side.

Nonetheless - great finish from Henderson and well taken pen by Gerrard.

After the Southampton game it was vital we got three points so it's been a good day at the office.
