How Carling cup can result in CL football

Starting 2015. Winners of Europa League get CL spot. Winning Carling cup grants a Europa League spot.  Teams outside the top 4 have a chance that way. Do you think think other premier league teams will take Carling cup more seriously now, knowing that winning Europa League will grant a CL spot?

It's a long round-about way of getting into it, and if a team is playing a lot of games in a short period due to Carling Capital One - F**k it, it's still the League Cup to me - then I reckon you'll still see some secondary players mixed into a first team.

Something to consider though I guess!

Don't think it will affect it much to be honest. I mean theoretically a Swansea or Aston Villa could get Champions league football that way but they'd still have to go out and actually win the Europa to do it.

The Europa league is one of the hardest competitions to win anyway, this will make it tougher still. Champions league teams should not drop into the Europa for finishing third in their group IMO.

As for the topic, it's a bit of a negative way of thinking to play in a tournament for an entire season just to get in the EL, mid table teams may but then (if they get in the Europa) will probably get relegated because of it the season after due to short squad numbers and injuries.

On second thoughts, YES! It's made for martinez and his bitter buddies.
