Oh god. Finn's just hemorrhaged runs. And there's a 6 and Australia only need 31 to win.

He may just become the most pilloried man in English sporting history if they lose this match. He must be feeling terrible right now.

Well i've piloried him all Summer. He bowls short and wide filth, not his fault really, it's the selectors. Guess it's the last we will see of him for the forseeable future.

To me he looks as though he has spent to much time with England and not enough with Middlesex bowling

Guys on TMS saying he has had problems with his run up all summer. Likewise as yourself they've portioned a good amount of blame on the selectors.

OH JIMMY, JIMMY. JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY, JIMMY ANDERSON.

F**k off with it being controversial, there's a clear noise, a clear hotspot and clearly caught. Easy decision. 10 wickets in the match for Jimmy.

We're one up, F***ing well done boys (eventually!)

I know yesterday I said Broad should be man of the match but F**k that now, it's gotta be Jimmy. 10 wickets in the match and taking the final four wickets that actually won us the game.

      Best bowler in the world.

Great start to the Ashes.  Got a bit worried that Flynn had blown it for us but good old Jimmy came to the rescue again.

Where would England be without Lancs? Provided Fred and Jim in recent years.  The last two leaders of the bowling attack.

Great start to the series. Can't believe how close it was though. Both teams had equal chances of winning and losing, and both had their standout performers, but having a world class player in Jimmy just edged it for us.

Bring on Thursday. Expecting more of the same.

And arguably England's best captain in Atherton (who was also a F***ing great batsmen)

Yep, and in the spin department, I'm convinced Gary Keedy would have got more wickets than Ashley Giles given the same amount of games. Criminal that he never played for England!

Anyway, hell of a game that, roll on Thursday, where it all starts again, minus the atmosphere!

Speaking of Lancs spinners, Simon Kerrigan is one man the England selectors should be keeping their eye on. 32 wickets at an average less than 20 already this season in the county championship. That's the most wickets of any spinner at the moment.

      The other England options (county cricket championship stats);

      Swann 4 wickets at 36.50
      Tredwell 1 wicket at 428.00
      Panesar 16 wickets at 46.68
      Rashid 17 wickets at 41.47
      Briggs 20 wickets 30.85
      Borthwick 18 wickets 37.33

Nobody comes near Keggsy at present, should at least be on the radar of the England team.

I hope the atmosphere at Lord's is better than the Trent Bridge one. But I doubt it. Hopefully they do allow the Barmy Army trumpeter in as he creates a lot of the atmosphere himself and also when the games going through a slow period, he livens it up with his renditions of various sitcom theme tunes.

Old Trafford and Durham should have belting crowds though. For some reason the northern grounds always seem to better, livelier crowds.

Of all the grounds, Lords is by far the quietest. Too many rules and regs at Lords. No chance the trumpeter will be allowed in, they also have a ban on fancy dress I think too.

It's more Champagne and a picnic hamper is Lords, full of Hooray Henrys and those gimps who wear their hideous MCC bacon and egg suits.

Pitch is usually a batsman's paradise too, and the game usually decided by which set of bowlers handle the slope the better.

As for Kerrigan, he is constantly being picked for England Lions, A tours and performance squads, so if he carries on his County form, he will eventually get his chance, probably in limited overs cricket. Problem is, if Swann misses out, the next man is Tredwell who does a good job for us when called upon.

Swann didn't get his chance till late in his career, so Kerrigan has loads of time yet.

      Yes I am.

Atherton was both great as a captain and batsmen. There's a reason he captained England in more Tests than any other man. He doesn't have a great win percentage but that was more to do with a below average team he had to captain throughout his time. As well as the West Indies still having a decent team, especially their bowling attack. The Aussies were starting their two decades of dominance as well.

16 Test hundreds in a bad team is testament to his ability with the bat as well.
