I have a soft spot for Aspas. Probably because his name is Iago and I was always holding out hope I'd be able to throw out "Othello" quotes whenever he scored

Similar, but I was going for the parrot, voiced by the very funny Gilbert Gottfried, in Aladdin.

      REALLY  ?

He has scored 10 goals in just 19 games for Sevilla and won the Europa cup.

Hes done more than we have this year and beaten our top scorer .

YUP    Another Brendan flop  ............... ( and Brendan spoke Spanish to heem )  ;D

10 goals in 24 games to be exact, although he didn't make many minutes. But 6 of those goals were for the copa del rey against a 2nd division club. Hasn't really made any minutes in the Europa League past the group stage, but congrats on winning it I guess.

Iago Aspas set to return to Celta Vigo from Sevilla

Iago Aspas set to return to Celta Vigo from Sevilla

Celta Vigo have reached an agreement with Sevilla for the transfer of former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas, both clubs have announced.

Aspas, 27, had come through the youth ranks at Celta but left for Liverpool in 2013.

He was unable to make an impact at Anfield and moved on to Sevilla on loan for the 2014-15, with the Europa League champions obliged to make the deal permanent for €7 million at the end of the season.

However, having had limited playing time at Sevilla, he is now set to return to Galicia. The deal, which is subject to a medical, is set to be completed when the transfer window opens on July 1.

Celta announced on their official website: "The Vigo club and Sevilla today reached a tentative agreement that, once he has passed a medical and completed the [transfer] process, will see Iago Aspas return home."

Aspas told ESPN FC last month that it had been "difficult" for him during his loan spell at Sevilla.

"The coach has played almost the whole season with just one forward," he said. "[Carlos] Bacca and [Kevin] Gameiro have scored a lot of goals. I have too in the small bit of time I have got to play, but it is difficult. I have done well, but my teammates have too."http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/2489934/iago-aspas-set-to-return-to-celta-vigo-from-sevilla?

It is not strange, he had a reasonable season at Sevilla so why would he want to come back here? it would be stranger if he came back to where he didn't fit in.

Was he on corner duty last season?

Also no longer our problem. Set to sign for Celta Vigo from Sevilla.

I did'nt mean strange we sold him.

I meant starnge business in terms of the triangle of the sale.

LFC -> Loan to Sevilla -> Sevilla option to buy -> Sevilla buy him -> Sevilla then sell to Celta Vigo.

Why not simply LFC sell to celta vigo. ;D

You know what I think is strange...that this thread keeps popping to the top of my unread list because who would think that a player that was absolute crap for us would still be getting this much discussion. ;)

We got more from Sevilla than they got from Celta Vigo so this one made more sense for us for a change.
