Saved a cracking penalty from Brendan this morning at the Anfield training session. :D

He seems to play with a lot of confidence Cas.

I like the look of him, not happy that Pepe has gone, but this fella was never gonna sit on the bench !!

      No goals conceded do far.

We have a reasonable run to begin the season. Get a string of clean sheets to build the confidence and who knows what can happen?

Early signs look promising. Big, strong, good prescence and very vocal by the looks of it. I think there is a bit of a trade-off there in terms of what we've lost and what we've gained. We've lost our sweeper keeper in Reina, admittadley Mignolet looks a little clumsy on the ball BUT I'd like to think the extra height and physical presecence will imprve things at set-pieces and particularly at corners.

I heard a rumour that he used to play in central midfield so hopefully his skills on the ball just need polishing up.

If we have the pace to play a high line hopefully most of his action will come from set pieces, saving shots from distance with the occasional 1 on 1 all of which he should be good at.

I'm encouraged by his vocal nature - just what we need at the back.

He still needs testing against proper opposition and we may still have a CB to come in but signs are looking promising so far.

I've read an interview where he says his distribution and skill with the ball at his feet is something he considers one of his weakest points, and something he wants to improve on.

I think this guy has everything you need to be a top keeper.

I'd agree with Scott saying this is a bit of a trade off with Pepe obviously a much better 'footballer', but Mignolet looks a more physically imposing keeper, and looks a cracking shot stopper to boot.

Good keeper but looks like hell need to do a lot of work with the ball at his feet to fit in to our style though

Getting a wrong rap about his feet. Decent with them, he really is. Obviously not a sweeper like Pepe but he is good enough.

That's how I see it as well.

Now that the dust has settled on Reina's loan I can get back to concentrating on Simon.

Always rated him as a keeper and I do feel he will turn out to be a very goo player for us.

I'm still over the moon we got Mignolet, he's going to make the team so confident this season, I think he'll settle beautifully after a great start in the pre season..

great keeper more agile than pepe and a taller man so better at coming and collecting corners something we've not had for years. needs to work and his kicking distribution to match Pepe who was the best in the game, but he's got the same coaches Pepe had so it should improve.
Can see him getting the golden glove this season if we keep Agger fit all season

Looked nervy in the first half, but he was OUTSTANDING in the second half. Ridiculous penalty stop and save on the rebound. Full confidence we've got ourselves a top notch keeper in Simon Mignolet.

Looked nervous in front of the Kop but 2nd half was much better.  The peno save will give him a big confidence boost.

Loved how when everyone was diving on him he was pushing them off to concentrate on play.
