Hillsborough probe finds more police statements changed

More police statements relating to the Hillsborough Disaster "appear to have been amended", the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has said.

The IPCC investigation is looking at the deaths of the 96 Liverpool football fans in April 1989.

Investigators initially found 164 police statements had been altered.

However, the IPCC says it has now "identified an additional 55 officers whose statements appear to have been amended."

An investigation by the Hillsborough Independent Panel showed police and emergency services had made "strenuous attempts" to deflect the blame for the disaster on to the fans.

Of the altered statements previously identified, 116 of them had negative comments about the policing of the match removed or changed.

Deborah Glass, deputy chair of the IPCC said: "We will begin interviewing those officers this month. In addition, we have identified more statements that have been altered."

As predictable as night follows day, a statement the Yorkshire Police Authority would attempt to ridicule if it threatened to expose their perjury.
The more damning the evidence becomes the more the establishment will try to delay the inevitable.

Agree with this but also good to hear that the IPCC seems to be doing it's job in exposing more of the truth.

Problem is, it isn't shocking, it's par for the course.  Sickening, but hardly unexpected.

Chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group Margaret Aspinall said ''it is encouraging that this has been found but it raises the question of where the details have been hidden for so long.''
''This just confirms what I believe, that this is going to become an increasingly bigger enquiry and will uncover lots and lots more about the scale of the (corruption and wholesale deceit) operation.''
Sheila Coleman of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign said ''we feel the IPCC has been slow to act up until now, with them taking nine months to come up with what they have so far.''
She added ''but this does reflect the size of things and shows how much we can expect to keep coming out.''

The Independant Police Complaints Commission is a marginal improvement on the various delaying bodies it is supposedly scrutinising, but let's not forget it was not implemented out of choice, compassion or regret; the profoundly corrupt establishment was left with no other option when the 24 years of lies by it's deputies was exposed.

Agree with that Stuey mate.  If the establishment had had their way, the truth would have remained hidden for all eternity.

Without women like Margaret, Sheila and Anne never giving up on their quests they would have got away with it.

Henry the 8th had a good way of dealing with people he didn't like. They would be partially hung then have their manhood removed followed by having their guts removed whilst still alive.
if we could find something similar to that then we might be able to say these bas**rds have had justice served upon them.
Any odds on any Police officer being sent down nope didn't think so.
latest scam was a senior SERIOUS CRIME SQUAD officer scamming £25K a year in expenses followed by a big redundancy payoff. What chance have we ever got of bringing these criminals to justice.

Hillsboro' families tell MP's of fresh concerns
Families of Hillsborough victims raised concerns about police officers who claimed they were too unwell to assist with enquiries into the disaster.
The Home Affairs Select Committee yesterday heard from family members Margaret Aspinall,
Jennifer Hicks and Sue Roberts as well as Lord Charlie Falconer QC on behalf of the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG) while Sheila Coleman and solicitor Elkan Abrahamson gave evidence on behalf of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC).
The committee heard about 30 officers were reportedly too unwell to be interviewed by police watchdog the IPCC.
Mrs Aspinall said ''It is very much a concern of mine and all the families that were there that day. I think it's very important that they (the police officers) should be brought in to answer questions''.
''I mean, a lot of the families - if you look back over the 25 years - are sick and old but have still to go through this procedure to get to the truth''.
Lord Falconer, who has advised victim's families said '' it raises a real issue. The numbers suggest there are some people who are just not cooperating''.
Ms Coleman called for allegations of the surveillance of families by police to be investigated alongside claims that the families of murdered Steven Lawrence were spied on by undercover police officers''.
She told the committee a number of Hillsborough campaigners believed they had been under surveillance and added her suspicions had been aroused when her house was broken into and her address book stolen.

Incorrigible liars mate, as the word implies they are beyond correction.
11 are under caution by the IPPC with more to be interviewed later, they can feign sickness all they like as the noose closes.

Fabricating events to save their own arses, sickening the hurt and pain they caused the families for in excess of 20 years, the affected have basically had a life sentence due to their lies, perhaps the liars should have the same consequence at her majesty's.

      Hillsborough 'suspects' figure rises
Twenty two people have been identified as 'suspects' by two investigations into the Hillsborough disaster.
On Thursday the IPCC confirmed that 13 retired and serving officers had been identified in the inquiry.
Operation Resolve the criminal investigation into the tragedy had also identified 13 people, four of whom featured in the IPCC inquiry.
The fresh inquests will begin on Monday in Warrington.

Sorry Debs I don't, was watching some current affairs thing last night on BBC and at the end there was an announcement that the hearing would be covered, now I think about it the coverage could be on the radio on account of there being no cameras allowed in a courtroom, sorry again Debs.

I have been advocating for some time that the Police force need to be broken up and a new way of Policing needs to be adopted.
THEY SERVE THE PUBLIC not  the other way round.
If a serving officer refuses to testify they should be sacked and lose their pension.

Cheers for that Stuey, I'll not be able to follow it from Barnsley then unless there's updates on the Sheffield stations.  From what they've said on Sky news today's going to be choosing the jury rather than the hearings starting.
