1. Jerusalem - William Blake (and i am an atheist!)
2. Days like these - Matt Monro ( from the original Italian job)
3. Ordinary people - John Legend
4. Elephant Stone - Stone Roses (long version)
5. An Ending (Ascent) - Brian Eno
6. Tupelo Honey - Van Morrison (Live in San Francisco with Brian Kennedy)
7. Remorse Code - Richard hawley
8. True Love Waits - Radiohead
There are so so many others!
But I tried to be in the spirit of D.I.D and show range
wanted depeche mode & Underworld and many more....but suppose i am an old romantic.
But to reflect my life, it's the above 8.
I'm Scottish but even I have to admit that Jerusalem is an outstanding and beautiful anthem/hymn. Why it isn't England's national anthem instead of that dreary bore saluting the Queen is beyond me. It's incredible. Not like any other patriotic tune in that instead of detailing a great military/imperial past or saluting the state, it depicts an idealistic and better world for all to enjoy. Amazing!
And like yourself I love Days Like These by Matt Monro. Much prefer the version that begins The Italian Job though than the one I have on my ipod. Coupled with the Lamborghini carving it's way through the Italian alps it is pretty much the most perfect intro to a film I've ever seen!
An Ending by Brian Eno is just brilliant as well. Have you got the Apollo soundtrack it came on? That's amazing listening. Love the man.
As for my list? It changes but at the moment
1. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths
2. My Hometown - Bruce Springsteen
3. Jupiter from The Planets Suite - Gustav Holst
4. A Sort of Homecoming (live) - U2
5. Beethoven's 6th (Pastoral symphony - the most relaxing and beautiful piece of music I've ever heard! Courtesy of watching Fantasia when younger!)
6. Don't Panic - Coldplay
7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (acoustic version) - The Beatles
8. Nightswimming - R.E.M.
Included a couple of classical pieces that I love that would last a good bit, especially Beethoven's but would have the longest lasting appeal. Like Lester's would probably have room to choose Jerusalem at some point as well but seeing as it's been chosen I'll use that as an excuse to choose something else!
