Already in the qualifying stages for this, not going to bother to list all of these games as it would be a waste of time.

The know teams that are already in the group stages are:
      Spain Valencia
      France Bordeaux
      Italy Lazio
      Russia Anzhi Makhachkala
      England Wigan Athletic
      Germany Freiburg
      Portugal Vitória de Guimarães

Tottenham Hotspur enter in the 3rd qualifying round with the CL teams that have not qualified for their Group stages.

The Final next year will be held at Juventus' new stadium.

Last years thread is here: but locked. http://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php/topic,43343.0.html

Just noticed after the event that Swansea are playing Malmö tonight.

Doesn't seen to be on TV, Welsh or English.

      ITV4 if you're interested.

Jonjo had a good game, and the Bony/Michu partnership looked great.

Gave me a laugh seeing the tweet from the official Malmo FF twitter account last night:

      @Malmo_FF: Slut. 0-4

They went on to explain two hours later:

@Malmo_FF: "Slut" in swedish = "The end", "End of the game" etc

Swansea City up 1-0 on Valencia after Bony with a nice finish from Michu cross. Also Valencia are down to ten men after defender got red for puling down Bony as last man

2-0 Michu finish off nice pass from Pozuelo, funny watching this I believe Swansea City have more Spanish players on the pitch than Valencia

DeGuzman's freekick was better than Messi's freekick from yesterdays CL. A point against them in the PL don't look too bad judging by this game.  Shame Swan's could not replicate this to the mancs.

They should scrap this league and just make the CL a bigger league and give the Prem 6 slots, Germany 6 slots, Spain 6, italy 6 and the rest 3 slots as their leagues are crap.

If anything, we should go back to the former setting, European Cup for league winners and defending the European Cup only.  Cup Winner's Cup and Uefa Cup should be brought back.  If they wanted to keep a Champion's League type affair, it should only be League Winners & the Countries major Cup winners that qualify, if a team wins the double, 2nd in the league gets the spot.  Unfortunately, because money talks, your crass idea may have legs amongst the brown envelope types at UEFA.

Spurs 1-0 down. Fantastic ball into the box from a free kick that was headed home.

Soldado lucky to be on the pitch, blatant elbow in the first half.

Dnipro down to 10 men for such a stupid red card decision considering what Soldado did first half.

Spurs up 2-1 now. Need just one more.

I was livid when I saw it happen.  Vertonghan is a blatant cheat imo.  That was disgraceful to the highest level... absolutely ruined the game.  To shaft sportsmanship like that just so you can win an EUROPA league game is absolutely bollocks.  lost all respect for the player and for the f**king tottenham fans that say it was deserved and took the 3-1 win as a justification that they are a freakin top 4 side.

just absolutely disgraceful.  That game was ruined due to BS theatrics.   F**kin spurs and their fans

This competition is really hotting up. Some cracking games concluded this week. Better than the UCL matches played mid week. The frankfurt - Porto game was boss. So was Ludogorets - Lazio game, Spuds game was tame compared to these.
If you missed it try to watch the whole game with only knowing the 1st leg result.

Ahh, yes.  But at least they showed ambition ;D

Really? Ambition to have a record for number of kick offs in a season maybe.

      He was being sarcastic Kenny.

Pity Spurs went out as we still have to play them.

Very surprised Napoli went out too..... Portugal may not have a strong league, but they always seem to do well in Europa league.

1st goal was well offside, so much so City could have scored it.

I didn't think the ball was touched on the way through, if it was then yes, he was extremely offside.

Valencia beating Sevilla 3-0, sounds like an exciting match as well, but I'm watching Juve vs Benfica. Still 0-0 but not a bad game at all!
I really like Jonas (Valencia), a relatively late boomer so to speak, but has been doing very well since going to Europe.

What about Markovic? Does anyone watch him on a regular basis? How good can he become? Only 20 years of age but every time I watch him, he impresses me. Showed amazing work rate for an attacking player.

Think our resident Benfica member hopes he comes to us Diego.  Can't remember his user name but he posts in Ilori's thread occasionally and has made comment about Markovic recently maybe in the transfer thread.

He was born in 94 but plays as if he had 25 years.
He grew up a lot this season defensively. Benfica play 4-4-2 then ends have to defend a lot and still be available to attack. And he has reached that level.

Too much speed, good technique makes good decisions and has ... tomatoes.
When he arrived the media said he already came with an agreement with Chelsea. I do not know if this is true. I hope he can stay here a long time. At 20 years shows more than Di Maria or Gaitán showed when they arrived.

      He is a real talent.

      I already posted about him:

Lazar Markovic is watched by Liverpool chief scout as Reds join Chelsea in chase for Benfica star

Europa League Final kicks off in 15 minutes on ITV4.

Reported targets Guilherme Siqueira and Nicolas Gaitan are in the Benfica line-up, with Alberto Moreno and Ivan Rakitic in Sevilla line-up.
