NBC Sports looking for Liverpool fans for new TV series

American TV network, NBC Sports, (premier league rights holder USA) is looking for fans to take part in a season long series using fan-captured video.

Whether you are in stadium witnessing the incredible free-kick, the last-minute winner or game saving stop, or filming your own reaction to the drama at home - in ANY other part of the World - NBC wants you to be a part of its broadcast.

Each week NBC video editors will collect the footage you take, to make a video clip that will be used on several TV shows as part of its Premier League coverage.

If you are in the habit of capturing video on your mobile phone, your handy work and Twitter handle could be featured on American TV. In some cases the best clips will also see you interviewed in the days following the game.

High school or university students may also use experience as part of a port-folio, with access to the final professionally edited product.

The way I see this, I'd rather have a pure LFC fan of a Shankly nature to educate the world, than a mild "premier league camera happy manc/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea/whoever is on the TV the most/man city fan.

It's one thing to turn your nose up at things. It's another thing to educate.

At least keep some spirit alive.

Your point about educating is a good one Ken and far better to have something like this than some whopper filming their own reaction to us scoring a goal.

NBC is pumping in a lot of money into bringing the EPL to the US.  I said it in a previous post. Football is growing at a pretty good rate in the US and I am really excited about this TV deal. They are showing the commercials and advertising during the Baseball games and all the MLS games. I have seen adverts on billboards,magazines,radio and TV.

I would be lucky If I watched 3 Liverpool matches a year on live TV. For the most part their would be 1 live match a week and the majority were United matches. Do you know how hard it is to wake up early Saturday or Sunday morning and find a decent stream online? Now I can watch every match in HD. I cant explain how massive this is for US supporters. Its huge.

But If this guy is looking for REAL supporters, I prefer that too some professional talking head who has no idea what the Shankly Gates are or the KOP. I have noticed that the majority of the Liverpool supporters in the US are true Football supporters. They actually know football, they know the history of the club and have a true passion for the club and the game.

If NBC is looking for US Liverpool fans to film themselves at a match, I would do it in a second.  If they flew me to Liverpool and got me tickets, I would have no problem.  However I am probably going to bet it will be someone who knows NOTHING about Liverpool and just looks good on camera.

Reminds me of when I almost broke my telly (which is no small feat, it's a big beast, not a flat screen!), when Riise scored that own goal vs Chelsea. Kicked it right off the stand 

Unfortunately in the heat of such an emotional moment I didn't have time to get my camera out.

Only with this post did I notice the whole deal wasn't new. Yes there is a strong audience-participation theme for NBC and it's typically the same thing each week: pics of babies in club gear, pics of a group, pics of beans on toast. It is beyond cliche. Whenever I see a video of fan celebrating or raging about a particular moment in a game (any sport), I always suspect it is re-created. I do scream at the TV set from time to time, usually in celebration, but I don't know why it would be entertaining unless I stand up too quickly and lose my trousers or something (in that case it would probably win an award for Biggest Achievement captured on camera).

When things go bad I'm more likely to just get totally quiet with a look of shock on my face (think Karius throwing it against Benzema or Lucas tapping it straight to Vardy a couple of years before that, or Karius letting the shot go through his hands). So it wouldn't be great TV, and I'm not interested in filming myself watching a game anyway.

But did these videos ever happen?

I don't watch their non game content so no clue,although the send ya photos of in game is pretty much what i'd expect,ya don't need a whole show for that.I didn't think these fan events would be so huge,the whole bantz stuff with other supporters ain't my thing but can see why the americans love it.

Klopp went up in my estimation, if it's possible to go any higher, when he said he won't have any of these fly-on-the-wall type camera crew in the dressing room or anywhere else.

FFS That is gonna encourage the dicks with heir phones out every match, now having them on extended stalks while they turn their backs on the game and watch it over their shoulder from their mini screens.
If you witness any such malarky, feel free to kick the perpertrator straight in the bollocks as hard as you possibly can. Then send in the grimacing pained facial to the waiting editors.
