What happened to doing our business behind closed doors? We haven't even bid for him and papers are being briefed that we're interested. Same story all summer with these 'marquee' signings and surprise surprise none of them have signed for us.

Interesting train of thought to be fair. Said myself that I'm not even sure we bid for either Mkhi or Costa.

Im suspicious of this too, Mkhitaryan seemed to be more of just rumoured interest rather than a bid, similar to this Willian situation atm.
Also it was reported that we met a release clause in our bid for Costa, but Atletico seemed to deny this and the player signed a new contract.

Seems all abit fishy, just hope that one of the signings actually becomes real :)

Not going to act like I know much about the lad, but from what little I've seen of him he looks nothing like a 30M player, and not even a 20M player in my opinion.  I honestly think we'd be better off spending our money on the likes of Munian, Insigne, or Eriksen.  If we are spending big money on a player, I think it would be better spent on Draxler or Lamela than this lad.  Just my 2 cents.

Will still be excited if we do sign him as it will show a sign of intent!!

Seen a few times in games on TV.
He seems a more central midfielder than a wider midfielder so I fail to see how he will fill any voids.
More like add competition to what we already have.
Good player but not someone we desperately need.
Seems like media or agent BS.

When I've seen him he can play top left and add goals with pace! :D True though.

He can play can this fella. If it's true, he walks into the first team and improves it instantly.

Agree. If we are to spend 30 mil on a player, I feel Lamela would be a better choice. Suarez slots in the left forward role & Lamela right with Coutinho as No.10. Roma are not in Europe, and their owner is a partner in FSG right? Just saying..

I guess he's played with Lucas at some stage, for Brazil I mean.  If he has then come on Lucas, you know what you need to do.  Pick the fu**ing phone up.

Havent got phones in Anzhi      Debs.

Looks like a top player and in the media he as basically done a Suarez and flashed his knickers at us... He is mates with Lucas it seems, or indeed looks up to him and appears to be a Liverpool fan.

His wages are a reported £108,000 a week so within out budget, however with his team in a fire sale and him wanting to come to us there could be a cut - we could get him at £90,000 with some bonus clauses me thinks. So I can see no reason why we wouldnt go for him - especially with Couthino & Lucas in the team it would make it easier, or I would hope so.

If we dont even try I would be very upset, and really question why BR / NESV are even here...

James Pearce says an enquiry has been made.

Would like to no more about the lad tho, certainly if we're gonna be paying €30million quid for him.

So if we pay that much for him, he will become our second biggest signing ever. Would love to see when will we eclipse the Carroll deal.

He's the player Downing was supposed to be but better. It's £30m sterling as well.
