Hope he doesn't go the same way as Coates! He came for the same price and was also highly rated.

To be fair to Coates, he seemed comfortable under a system that suited his style of defending/play, but think he started to show signs of struggling under BR and his philosophy of playing from the back. Tiago should fit right in with his pace and youth career as a forward player.

He looks to be very fit and athletic!!  Hopefully BR is able to help him along in his development and he fits the system better than the likes of Coates!!

why dont we give him a go 1st half as RWB against newcastle that way we can see how he is and if its not working we should have Johnson on the bench. If it does work then we can keep Johnson on the bench and bring him back slowly so he dont rush back

So far turning out to be a lot of money wasted on a player that doesn't appear to be getting involved with the 1st team anytime soon. Any news on the lad and how he's doing at the club?

He was bought for the future, is doing just fine in ressies and its not like he needs to be rushed, we have a host of players in the defense for this season.

Would not exactly call it money wasted on a player, yes we need to worry about spending on the starting XI but at the same time the gaffer needs to be forward thinking for next season and thereafter.

£7m wasn't it? I understand about it being one for the future but I always think that amount of money is a lot in that situation, especially when we cant spend mega money anyway. Im sure it's not just me but like the Alberto fee, I can't help but think their fee's could have gone to improving our midfield now, especially when we need bit of a no nonsense holding player with some strength about him too.

Though that said, if he goes on to become a cracking player for us you wont hear me complaining.

Would have loved to have seen this lad get a run out already. Surely he could have done a job at wing back while Glen has been out.

agree mate the fact we missed johnson and had to play to midfielders there is suprising as he's quick and comfy on the ball so could have done a job against palace at Home!!! i'm fed up of buying "for the future" we have a great U21 squad now full of  talent so now we need to buy for the now if we are to compete for the league

I reckon he might go out on loan to gain some competitive footy as he's been bought to fill the gap when we eventually sell Sktretl to the russians, we all know its going to happen either in Jan depending on if he's keeping his place or in the summer for a higher fee after he has hopefully a successful campaign. he's a decent defender and is still young so bedding him in whilst we have Kolo, Agger and sakho who are all 3 completely different types of CB will do him good. so i would loan him out in Jan then sell Skrtel and next season start bringing him into the team with advice from the remaining 3 CB as unless things change it would be Kolos last season as we only signed him on a 2yr deal.

He will get a chance, and hopefully not get restless meanwhile. Toure's age and skrtel's tendency to annoy Rodgers by dropping too deep means he must. His pace will be an asset alongside sakho's power and agger's distribution

It was illogical to spend that money on a young centre back who can't even get on the bench when the manager keeps talking about his limited squad. If you don't have much money to spend, then FFS don't waste it on players who aren't fit for the bench.

Illori's development has now been severely halted as well. He was better spending the season back on loan at Sporting where he might have played and improved rather than the limbo he is now in.

I've yet to see Tiago Scarlet Pimpernel Ilori, but by all accounts he can play in midfield, and has mobility, once we can find this elusive man, I say we throw him in...

Yesil shouldn't be lumped in. He's still young and had to sit out for awhile thru injury.

Come to think of it, Assaidi too. Not a Rodgers signing from all indications.
