And the answer is a very British problem, when things ain't going right at a club, they rely more and more in the experienced players that got them into the situation, rather than risking changing fortunes by trying something different or giving youth a chance, they stick with the players that got them into the problem.

Villa have just recently appointed a new manager (Garde) to save them from the drop, you would assume a man of his experience would approach his new role with an open mind and wipe the slate clean for all the players especially when they are in a relegation scrap.

TBH have not watched any of Villa this season and am unfamiliar with their squad but I think there is more to it here with Tiago.

The question we really should be asking is why a 10m center back can't get a look in to the worst side of the Premier League before bringing him back here?

      He's been injured mate.

Yep.  We have a better squad in the physios room than we can field on the pitch.

      Yep.

A novice follower of football could tell that tactics Tim was never going to use this kid.

Bit surprised Remi Garde hasn't had a loom though given there still poor run.

Because Tim Sherwood fancied Micah Richards more.

Illori isn't that sh*t, Had Harry Kane in his  back pocket during the U-21 Euro's last summer.

Best bit of news that would be, it was a shame some were also quick to get shot of Sebastian Coates too.

      ILORI RECALL?

Liverpool are exploring the possibility of bringing Tiago Ilori back from his season-long loan at Aston Villa.

However, in order for the player to return to Anfield, Villa would have to cancel the loan agreement  as there is no recall clause.

The 22-year-old joined Villa in the summer but despite their struggles in the Premier League, he's yet to feature for them either.

Will be interesting to see if Ilori is actually any good at the senior level or just overhyped based on youth tournaments. Perfect opportunity to see him play now with so many injuries.

I agree mate. It was frustrating to think we might lose him without ever actually being able to see what he had to offer. Hopefully now he will be given a chance and then we can at least see for ourselves if he's any good.

      Agree.

I really like what I've seen of him but its going to be good to get a proper look at him in the league.

Spain and France are different leagues.  He has been on our books for near on 3 seasons he hasn't played a game.  Villa cancelled his loaned deal and in half a season he hasn't kicked a ball in a competitive game.  We need a CB not holding much hope on Illori.

Tough match in a tough environment especially coming from nowhere to play once more after his shocking treatment where we sent him to Villa on a lie. We might as well have sent him to work on an industrial estate.

But hopefully he's pencilled in to start in the return leg so he'll have something to work for. (Could he start against Arsenal if Sakho isn't fit?)
