Obviously I didn't say that. He can make the decision based on what is most important to him.

We were talking about him contending for a spot in the squad, maybe as a 4th-choice center back and that it was good that Klopp mentioned him. I suggested Sakho's injury might open the door a bit more, but then saw the news about The Olympics. If he's gone for about the same amount of time that Sakho is going to be out than that it isn't going to help him get games for Liverpool, is it?

Not sure how it's going to help him anyway....likely Matip and Lovren are the starters. So unless there's an injury he's not going to get games anyway and when Sakho comes back, he'll be right back where he was. I actually think playing in the olympics could be better for him. He'll have a chance to show what he can do since he's not getting much chance at Liverpool..

Playing in the Olympics might help him get a chance with someone else, sure.

I just said 3rd or 4th choice so not pegging him as a contender for starting. But sometimes 3rd or 4th choice players DO get games, depending on circumstances. It would have been higher in the pecking order than where he was after coming back from loan last season.

I DID NOT say he should have turned down Portugal, just that being away won't help him fight his way up the selection ladder here.

Another who was "misused" but it turns out isn't actually good enough under Jürgen either. Bet his algorithms were impressive pre signing, just a shame his football is less so.

If the Echo is correct that Klopp is now looking to bring in a new center back with Gomez being (re) injured, it would seem to leave no doubt that Klopp is willing to move Ilori.

Ilori is away at the Olympics at the start of the season. He could be looking to move him on though.

Get your CV in to Jürgen, he's bound to give you a job on his scouting staff!!

Think he'd be better at the high jump than in CB

Looks like he went 90 in a 1-1 draw as Portugal advance.

BTW, re this thread, did Klopp really tell him to find a new club? I don't recall reading/hearing that one.

Anyone know? Anyone see him play today?

he wanted a move back home with Porto but kop boss's wanted to sell him to a few clubs in Greece for 3 million, so now they are vexed with him and told him to stay at Anfield

Would be a good move for him as he needs to be playing first team football which he is not going to get here.

Good move with Stam as manager. He will improve for sure. Would it be enough to play for us is another scenario.

Good move for him, he'll do well there and could still end up in the PL if they get promoted.

I think he's an absolutely quality defender and was wasted playing for the U23s. I have no doubt he'll return to the higher tier soon and has the potential to be CL quality imo. Good luck to him!

Pretty sure the £7mil is the Gross figure that would have been triggered based on a series of clauses but he never got to play with us!

When he played in Spain, some games in France, U23s and when he played for us in some cup games last season.

He is strong, composed, reads the game well, good tackler and quick, just needs to play on a regular basis, and hopefully, he can reach his potential.

We paid £3.5m, the £7m figure was based on add ons that were triggered.
