Hamann Going To Man City Insted Of Bolton!
      Jul 11, 2006 05:46:45 pm
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that they will not be signing former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann.
Liverpool confirmed on their website on Tuesday that Hamann, 32, left the club to sign for Sam Allardyce's side.

But in a statement on their website, Bolton said: "Although Didi Hamann signed a contract with the club, he has since had a change of heart."

Manchester City have been linked with the player, and Bolton added: "He will sign for another club within 24 hours."

The German midfielder's exit from Anfield came after he slipped down the pecking order because of competition from Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez told the German he could leave.

Hamann won eight medals during his seven-year stint at Anfield.

He made 283 appearances for Liverpool scoring 11 goals. And in 2002, Hamann became the first Liverpool player since Roger Hunt in 1966 to play in a World Cup Final.

I'll be sorry to see him go but he deserves first team football and he's not going to get it with competition for places like that.  Thanks Didi, we'll miss you

One of the greatest Liverpool players of recent years, and we all know his influence on a certain European Cup final has changed all of our lives. Good luck to him in everything he does  :)

I can only assume fat sam was probably miffed when Didi asked what time training finishes so he can get to the bookies and not too worry he he hears tales of Didi getting bladdered.
All the best to him and i can't wait for the city games next season what a reception he will get.

Things I'll remember about our Scouse Kaiser:

Continually winning free-kicks when defence under pressure with that dodgy fall he always did and every ref fell for

That performance in Istanbul, taking a pen when he broke a bone in his foot.

His quick thinking in this years cup final, the throw-in that led to stevie gerrard's equaliser, most players would throw the ball out, didi deliberately threw the ball slower so the defender would have to clear.

Making Seaman look the complete clown that he always was with that free-kick at Wembley - for some strange reason i couldn't help but cheer that goal.

His numerous big-time performances in any major competition we have won in his time here

And that bleedin blinking that he does every time he gets interviewed
