He made one mistake then recovered it. Every ball he played was a smart ball to a red shirt. Looked very solid and timed some tackles superbly. Don't see how you thought he was poor to be fair

Looks like Aspas is the new whipping boy this season. Bit harsh give the lad a few games before you put his head on the guillotine!
not really what we have seen so far in te prem games is he is off the pace and looks awkward

On Aspas, he's looked lightweight and pretty wasteful in every game so far, but I think slating him on tonights performance is a bit harsh.
The game had already got away from us before he came on, and it was totally frantic by that point - pretty hard to adjust to, especially if you are new to the EPL.
But on his performances so far he is going to clearly be behind Suarez, Moses, Coutinho and Sterling for the wide positions. So he may not see much more action for a good while anyway.

I remember Andy Carroll doing F**k all for 1 year and a half and it was all about "give him time", "he's a young lad", "he's just made that very traumatic 300km trip from Newcastle to Liverpool, it's natural to struggle to adapt", and any other daft excuses you can think of. Now it's 3 games and conclusions are being made. Seriously, I liked this forum better when it was me bashing Carroll  :f_tongueincheek:

People having a pop at Aspas are entitled to.

Anyone defending that performance from him no matter how many games hes played or how many minutes he was on. He did nothing and didn't look capable of anything because he looks too weak

A lot of the problems with Aspas was his attitude he didn't close down he didn't tackle, poor attitude all round and for a player wanting to earn a place in the team it doesn't look good and fans show there frustration

Close down? Learn the game first. We barely pressed the ball from the moment he came on, we were playing shape and shuffle with lads behind the ball for virtually the last 30 minutes of the 2nd half. If you press you have to do it in threes and fours. There was nothing wrong with the player's attitude he just wasn't able to make much of an impact on the game and the lad is still finding his feet. He had some good moments in the opener against Stoke where his movement was excellent and he showed some chemistry with Sturridge and Coutinho BUT he hasn't really shown much since BUT

It doesn't mean he is a write off

It doesn't mean his attitude is poor

It doesn't mean it was a waste of 7 million quid

Just like Raheem Sterling, by the way. I hope we'll see a bit more of Ibe or Alberto soon.

Don't understand this judging new players as rubbish when they've not had a chance to settle properly into a new league. We all demand that new managers must be given time, how about we cut new players a bit of slack.
Aspas wasn't great, but he wasn't the only one by any stretch.

Interesting debut for Sakho, never easy starting with an away game. Moments of Sakh-O-Fight but occasional Sakh-O-sh*te.

Sterling seems to have gone backwards since last season he should be really pushing on now I am a bit disappointed in him

      Johnson, Agger, Cissoko, Suarez.

      Hopefully Phil.

I don't care a little bit about pre-season. Aspas had a good game against Stoke and been disappointing ever since. But that's only 3 games of which he didn't play the 90 minutes plus +/- 20 minutes tonight. I don't judge any player based on that. Any player at all. And I think it's stupid to do so.

Like many fans, I cannot understand why we are content to sit back in the second half and defend.

When the day comes that  I'm hoping BR brings on another midfielder instead of our striking option is not a good one, nothing personal but if Suarez stays plays and is fit with Sturridge also Aspas never gets a game.

Raheem is 18 a kid Aspas is a grown man of 26. Raheem already looks more capable of holding up the ball or fending off a tackle then aspas

So just write him off yea, barely a month into his first season in a far more physical league than he's played in before, send him packing back to Spain yea? If he shows no improvement before the year is out then you'll have reason to criticise but slating him after a few minutes on the pitch is pathetic!
