Rodgers does not need to stop playing Gerrard.

He needs to play him more advanced for the first 60 or last 30.

He also needs to surround Gerrard with players that have more than one brain cell.

Once we have players capable of intelligent movement then all the talk about Gerrard will stop.

Oh, one more thing. Rodgers must sign some players that at least possess one bollock, preferably a pair of bollocks though.

We need to start easing the pressure on Gerrard, not increasing it.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - his legs have gone, he has no athleticism, he is a statue, he cannot tackle and in an increasingly fast paced Premier League and an increasingly ineffective Gerrard, it's a recipe for disaster.

We complain on here time and time again how immobile our forwards are, yet at the same time, we think putting an immobile Gerrard up near the front is going to help us? Give me strength.

What's more, if we are meant to play a high intense game, Gerrard is not the answer.

As I said, a great actor knows when to leave the stage. If Gerrard wants to keep his legendary status amongst fans, he must retire now or risk damaging his reputation with yet more shocking performances.

Maradona was jettisoned at Napoli by the time he hit 30 (albeit by underhand tactics but he was, I know the drugs scandal may have been instigated by other Italian interests after the world cup 90 but it worked for Napoli too) same with Raul at Madrid etc. These club legends are really a problem when they start to drop in performance, unless it is handled properly. Maradona was the greatest but imagine if he hung around till about 35 and they were still building a team around him. He couldn't have been a bit part player. Stevie is a real problem at this point because of his history with the club. We can't move forward metaphorically and literally if he is DM.

With the 60k knocked of Johnson's contract put it into the Stevie bucket and get him signed up now.

Mate, our whole squad has gone into hibernation mode thus far, what would have been crucial to us & important is to have the experience & leadership of Reina & Agger, once Carra had gone & Stevie has lost his desire it would have been nice to have a Reina or Agger bark orders on the field, both men with this club at heart & only desired good for us.

I would look to build around Sterling more than any other player at the cloob.

Pepe and Reina so good they named him twice. we are in the trenches right now not sure how many of these I would like to go to war with. Just look at the calibre of Sami,Jamie,Didi ,Mascherano, Alonso real characters who knew what it meant to get stuck in.

Shame seeing Stevie play the way he is. Rodgers should get him out of that DM position once and for all and if he insists on playing him, play him for the last 30 mins just outside the box. He might not have the legs but he's still got a fantastic brain and is capable of creating those little diagonal passes or thru balls for our forwards to hopefully latch onto.

Last season Gerrard started playing in the deep-lying playmaker role (or whatever term you care to use) in the Stoke game.

Our record before that game was        played 20 scored 46 conceded 23 points 39
with Gerrard as deep-lying playmaker played 18  scored 55 conceded 27 points 45

There is no doubt that the loss of our strikers has affected Gerrard, the team and our success this season, maybe the manager should have thought about changing the formation and Gerrard's role in it before now?

The drop in our points per game tally is startling.
