      Virus Checkers
      Oct 13, 2007 11:33:01 am
I have the free AVG version and so far no probs. I have had a few free spyware programmes too, but has any one bought the Full AVG version and if so any good? I feel that if I put my hand in my pocket the security would be much better. the reason for this is that with some of the free stuff I had the speed was suffering alot, now that I have deleted the spyware stuff it is a lot faster, AVG has a spyware prog that comes with the programme thus the question, anyone got the full version and if so any good?
      TIA.

I've always used the freebie AVG and it has been fine, although it really runs the processor during a test.

For spyware use the Ad-aware freebie from Lavasoft, and get a prog like Ccleaner to clean your cache, which removes some of your spyware problems as well.

I use AVG Free, and have never had any problems also

I also run Ad-Aware and another program called clean-up

      http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=69

      works very very well...

The best thing I did to speed up my maching ( XP PRO) was to go to
      Start then click on
RUN then type in MSCONFIG and "Enter"....
this brings up the "System Configuration Utility"

      select the "Selective Startup"
then click on the far right tab STARTUP

these are all the programs that run when you boot up your machine...
un-tick the ones you dont need when you boot up, like MSN, Quicktime, or iTunes etc
(the only ones that I have ticked are the AVG ones)
      hit "Apply"
      "OK"
       and away you go,
if there are any problems when you Re-Boot, just go back and re-tick,
