the problem I have is we know what he can do and what he can achieve £25 mil isn't going to get us a first team player especially a forward and maybe its better the devil you know. I expect he will go on Pre Season so Jürgen can have another look unless someone comes in with a silly offer.

25m will help a lot in funding players in 30-50m bracket, if Klopp is looking for a versatile forward who would be looking into breaking the XI and adding more depth. Especially now that we are rumored in selling some players and raising more funds for better players.

A promising player but we already have much better in the squad, if we can get £20m for him then happy days and that money can be added to bankroll we have to get a top class forward.

I think our squad is so strong now that anyone other than a CL proven player or even EPL winner isn't really going to strengthen our squad.
I also think Jürgen knows young players and if he thinks he can improve him then he will stay if not he will go. Lallana and Sturridge may well go and we wont get too much for them. As for concerns about Wilson what utter rubbish that is the Derby fans love him and I have seen enough of him to know how influential he has been on their season. We have a number young lads who we need to look at and the Summer tour will see most if not all of them given their chance to prove they are worthy of a squad place.

If Derby goes up, it's better to extend his loan for one more season to see how he fares in the EPL.

Just because fans love a player, it doesn’t mean they don’t see faults in his game and they are perfect. The fans I spoke to have seen everyone single one of his performances this season so I think they are in a good position to judge and nobody has said he hasn’t been influential, they said about his level of consistency - there’s a difference.
Of course the fans will have taken to him, he was an exciting young(ish) player, scored big goals for them and said all the right things but a common theme among their fan base is his level of consistency.

Lots of our fan base loved Lucas but we all admit that he was far from being a world beater. He was good at what he does and was versatile but he was far from being world class.
We all love Trent but you’d be lucky to go a week without there being some focus on the defensive side of his game and consistency when defending...are the defensive vulnerabilities we all see in Trents game utter rubbish because he’s loved by the fans?

Nobody is writing anyone off saying about a level of consistency, it’s more constructive criticism.

I imagine we will look to get him a loan at a PL league team next season and see how he performs.

Outside of his set pieces his general link up play with the rest of the team needs a upgrade if he is ever going to make it at LFC.

There again Origi has got plenty of game time this season!

For a player who has done well in the championship, 25 million is a tad too much to be asking for but if a team wants to pay that then it has to be looked at.
I would though like to see our current players out on loan given a few weeks of being back with us for preseason so the staff can really see where they are at before anyone is sold on.
I have been impressed by Kent and Ojo over the last 3 years during preseason games. Always look like decent prospects.
I would love to see more players come through the ranks and given opportunities at the club rather than sell on or loan out too quickly.
Suppose that’s the romantic in me.

Hes a lot cleverer player than some on here give him credit for. He can unlock defences.

Edit: I would be very interested to see how he links up with our front lads, who are of course far superior in quality than what he is feeding right now.

I'm guessing with Salah Mane and Firmino on the end of his passes and feeding him in return his numbers would be decent.

In this market hes worth 25 million but I dont think we should be in a rush to sell just yet until hes had a crack first.

Exactly, give him a Season under Jürgen and any perceived faults in his game will be ironed out, he then may become a 50 million pound Player! We don't know to will we give it a shout. Would be gutted to let him go, then he becomes a Superstar!

Don’t think anyone has said that. The issue is more to do with his level of consistency, not ability.

That's your particular issue with him but some on here are making out hes a dead ball specialist only. I disagree.

I don’t have any issue with him, I’m just saying what I know some people who have been watching him all season have said.
I haven’t seen enough of him to comment what I think, that’s why I’m looking forward to seeing how he does in pre-season. Perhaps I’ve missed it but I haven’t actually seen anyone say he’s just about the set pieces.

You get a sense from reading the Derby forums that they like him because he is a match winner with flashes of brilliance, but on the flip side, his overall play and consistency is lacking.

      Quote
Think I've been quite a harsh critic of his this season.

He went missing for a large part of the season, and his diving really annoys me BUT his goals have fired us to Wembley and he has scored some very important goals in recent weeks.

Personally, I wouldn't be tempted at £25m but sure some team will be based on his numbers and the fact he's from Liverpool.

      Quote
Harry Wilson is a great highlight player. He's probably the only young player I've ever watched and thought he needs to improve his all round game opposed to his end product - most exciting young players fall off a cliff due to the fact they're not able to produce that end product. Wilson is entirely different.

      Quote
Wilson (age 21) for us played 45+3, 18 goals, 8 assists (so far!) - finished 6th, cost £25m

In fairness though we're 2 seasons on and Wilson is a bit more than a one season wonder after a good spell at Hull, not to mention his nerves of steel.

Probably better to compare to James Maddison whose final season at Norwich (age 21) was played 49, 15 goals, 11 assists, cost £20m.

      Quote
If we do get promoted I'd offer Chelsea 10 million for Tomori, then offer Chelsea and Liverpool deals to sign both Wilson and Mount on loan with buy options for 20 odd million the following season should we stay up.

Of the 3, Wilson is the biggest risk for me.

      Quote
£25m is probably about right considering his end product, but I would be uneasy at spending that amount on him. I'm not sure who would take the gamble on him at that price.

      Quote
I'd be very unsure spending £25 mill on Wilson. There's no doubting his ability on his left foot but he goes missing in games far too often.

      Quote
As much as I like him, I feel if we got promoted then we would need a more industrious player than him in the side. Equally, if we stay down then I don't think we would be in a position to sign him.

He would probably do well as a bit-part player for Liverpool, somewhere where he can show his flashes of brilliance without being detrimental to the team. I could see him going somewhere like West Ham/Palace/Newcastle otherwise.

      Quote
True - but then they(Liverpool fans) will have also seen how tremendously one-footed he is - he has a long way to go as a player

But that’s utter rubbish and the Derby fans love him apparently, or so some will have you try and think.

Don’t know why some people are taking it as the lad almost getting slated by concerns about his game being raised. When you actually speak to Derby fans, read what they are saying etc it’s clear to see that they have concerns about him.

It doesn’t help that he seems to be making the breakthrough at quite a late stage, last season was the first time he went out on loan wasn’t it? That’s a late age for a first loan move and to just be playing in the U23s, so it’s obvious there will be issues with his game. At soon to be 23, this summer will be defining for him IMO, he will either earn a place with us for next season or he will move on. I don’t think we have any interest in loaning him to try and develop his game for in a year or 2, not at his age. Before we know it he will be mid 20’s and at that stage, the potential tag is gone, you are either cutting it or you’re not.

I’ve already said I’m just relaying what I have been told by people who have seen every appearance of his this season and what I have read from Derby fans who like it or not, are better informed on him than us. I don’t see the big deal about being one footed and things like that, it’s not like we don’t say the same about Salah, we also say about the consistency of some of our players so why are people basically getting shitty about Derby fans saying it about Wilson. Nobody is saying he’s sh*t and whatever else, if there were no concerns about his game then he’d be the perfect player and he’d have the likes of Barca queuing up for him, not Bournemouth, but given the little experience he has, it’s not the case, there will be issues. Simple as that.

I am not getting shitty about derby fans, frankly i couldn't give a F**k what they think. Just seen enough to think he deserves a chance at a higher level, ideally in preseason. Reckon Jürgen probably has his mind made up either way.

Watched the game today and he had a bit of a nightmare. That being said Super Frank had a bit of a nightmare tactically and it wasnt until they brought on the winger, Marriott and Waghorn that they started to look a threat.

Derby in a real hole next season without all the loanees. I think their eggs were in the basket of promotion this season and spending with the promotion money. Without the Chelsea and Liverpool players they're not great.

Think it was Marriot who changed the game against Leeds. So much for celebrating the victory against Leeds, then not playing the guy who scored 2 goals in the previous.

As for Wilson, his numbers in Championship alone would be enough to get him on a loan or a move to a premier league. Both of which is good for us.

Villa were hard on Wilson as he was there only real quality player up front. But Villa were so much better all over the park and Derby looked lost . Ashley Cole at left back and Tom Huddleston isn't a club going forward.
