Hope Flanno doesn't get a roasting, he'll either play crap or out of his skin  :o

Expecting to see Coutinho at some stage of the second half, he'll be itching to get on.

A very tasty game coming up boys and girls....enjoy xx

Surprised that Flanagan has managed to get the nod over some of the other defenders on the bench but can only assume he has been putting a lot of effort in on the training pitch.  If so, then surely he does deserve a chance - sends a good signal to the rest of the fringe players?

Interesting to see if we stick with the 3-5-2 with him in the side or we revert to a 4-4-2.

Great chance to go top of the league - should be plenty for us all to learn about how far we've come and how far we've got to go in the next couple of hours.

Bit of a blow losing Johnson. I would probably have moved Toure out wide and brought Agger back into the fold if Kelly is not ready, but hopefully Brendan knows better. Still think we can win, not quite as sure we will win. Flanagan needs to really step up from his last few games for us.

Still going for 2-1 to us, hopefully the SaS will show he who dares wins today.

      Flanno a big surprise.

i wouldn't have gone for him but the boss must have seen something in him to get the nod.

Kelly looked badly off the pace last week when he came on. Was actually quite stark. Hoping Flanagan can take his chance. Like Dmasta said he's not going to get many more chances, if any, to impress. It's a big day for him.

Me too i'd love Flanno to do well today. I imagine if the game isn't going well for him by half time Coutinho will come on in his place at the start of the second and Hendo will slot in at right full.

Not feeling quite so confident with Flanno being in the team, his last few games for us he has had a mare so hopefully he can put in a top performance and he is going to have to.

If anyone else came close to Shelvey in the "walking red card" competition, it was Flanagan.

FFS, the offal just put a video out this week with Johnson, he kept saying "yea, I'm fit, I'm raring to go, where are they, let me attem!!!"

      And now this.

Why can't we just be normal....

I loved Flanno when he first came through, really rated him but he is a limited player going forwards so we really do look like a back 5 rather than a back 3 and I would argue we have zero threat in wide areas. Still think we will cause them some problems

Good luck to young Flanno, hope he performs well, like most slightly shocked Kelly didn't get the nod but if the boss believes in Flanaghan then who are we to argue,

Still think we will do them tho, young Flanno bagging the winner,  ;D

Trying to remember the last time Flano started a game.

In early season last year ? (just can't remember, only games with him I remind were in Kenny era ; and is player thread is silent since more than a year)

Anyway if he has been chosen it's probably because he has shown in training he desserves it, no reason to worry.

      There's a reason you can't remember.

I hope it's not 4-4-2 mate coz Sissoko is no midfielder! And neither is Flanno. If we had gone down that route I think Moses would have been brought into the squad

Our bench looks very good, miles better than Arsenal. They have no game changers on their bench whereas ours looks very good.

Really don't get it, Martin Kelly on his day has shown he's a very, very good RB.  Flanagan has never shown that, he's never shown he has what it takes, he's rash going into tackles, it really just makes very little sense.  Now's not the time to be sentimental it's the time to put the best player out there to get us a result.  With Flanagan on the right and Cissokho on the left having shown he's not exactly Einstein going forward, it looks like we're going to be battening down the hatches again.  The bus has been parked and the keys tossed into the Thames.

Really, really hope Flanno proves me wrong.

If we were thinking of playing 4 -4 -2 (which I don't believe we are), I think we would go :-

                          Mignolet

      Flanagan    Skrtel     Sakho     Cissokho

               Gerrard     Toure    Lucas

                           Henderson

                    Suarez    Sturridge

Which doesn't actually look that bad :D
