If Stevie is starting today then it proves once and for all that there is no such thing as "earning your place" at our club.  He had one of the worst games he's had in years at the derby, not to mention the fact that he had already been incredibly inconsistent before that this season.  But that "performance" at Goodison was abominable and someone else should be given a chance.  maybe it'll give Stevie the kick up the arse he needs so he'll pull his finger out next game.

On times you are a complete fckin idiot.

Expecting nothing less than a comprehensive win today, these are the games that we should be winning and winning well if we want to maintain our lofty position, 3 points in the bag and one week and one game closer to January, C'mon the red men.

If Sturridge is definitely out and also given our lack of a left back I'd be happy to see us back to three at the back as JD mentioned earlier in the thread.

      Mignolet

      Skrtel  Agger  Sakho

      Johnson  Lucas  Gerrard  Moses

      Henderson          Coutinho

      Suarez

With Agger in the back three and Moses on the left it would be an attacking formation rather than reverting to a back five.

Looks good, and I think it would be nice to see both agger and sakho playing. But i feel the manager will give flanagan another run at left back.

3 at the back again. No chance!  Henderson a winger? No thanks.

No need to change the back 4 because a striker is out.  I wouldn't change anything from the Everton game but put Aspas or Moses on while Sturridge is injured. We could have done better but it wasn't terrible,  just look how Stoke did there yesterday.

Don't say this often, but I'd have this down as a must-win.

The top 8/9 is so tightly packed that on these weekends that there are two clashes between the other sides right up with us - we need to take full advantage.

Our form over the last 9 has taken a little dip.  We've only picked up 4 wins in that time.

Many of us have pointed out that we still look like we will struggle against the better sides - draws against Everton, defeats against Southampton and Arsenal give that some credibility.

Vital then, that if we seriously want to be in the top four rather than making baby steps forward that we demolish teams like Hull.

we'll beat Arsenal and Everton at Anfield I think,  but yeah we need to be taking 3 points from all the lesser sides.

I know it's slightly off topic, I hope we turn the tigers into pussy cats today:

But I just read this disgraceful piece of behaviour from their chairman Assem Allan, he epitomises everything that is wrong with football today. Feel sorry for their fans...

Hull City owner Assem Allam says fans who sing "City till we die" in protest against his plans to change the club's name can "die as soon as they want".

Allam, who took over in 2010, presided over the club's return to the Premier League last season but has infuriated fans after revealing he plans to rebrand the club Hull Tigers.

Several supporters protested during last week's game against Crystal Palace at the KC Stadium by unfurling a banner which read "We are Hull City".

A campaign group called City Till We Die has also been established and has called on Allam to hold a consultation with all the fans regarding the proposed change.

Allam, however, has little time for the opposition and he told the Independent on Sunday: "I don't mind 'City till we die'.

"They can die as soon as they want, as long as they leave the club for the majority who just want to watch good football."

He added: "How can they call themselves fans, these hooligans, this militant minority, when they disturb and distract the players while taking away the rights of others to watch the football, and of companies who have paid good money for advertising?

"If they want to express their feelings they are free to do so, either outside the stadium or pay to take space. Seriously, they are welcome to talk to the stadium management about buying a space for a permanent banner, 10 times as big if they want. I am a supporter of democracy. I would have no issue with that."

On the possible repercussions of ongoing protests, Allam said: "I'm a simple man. Do they want me to stay? If it's 'No thank you', fine, in 24 hours the club is for sale, I do not put in one more pound and hopefully things happen quickly."

      Henderson isn't a winger you're right.

My formation doesn't have him as one so we agree then.

so you expect moses and Johnson to run up the wings leaving us exposed on the counter?

I'm not even going to bother to discuss tactics with you mate as you've proven time after time to be pretty clueless.

well,  not as clueless as someone who would go with that formation. Flanagan earned his start against hull and 4 at the back is used almost all the time unless teams have a lack of options,  I think we have enough players for a back 4 against hull somehow.
