I hate all this 'it's notoriously difficult to do business in January' bullshit. The January Window is no different to the Summer Window. Players are made available with prices on their heads.

If you want the player you pay the F***ing money. You most certainly don't haggle over the price when another Premier League rival is sniffing about.

We are amateurs when it comes to signing players. This 'let's try and knock a couple of quid off' attitude is costing us dearly.

If Brendan wanted the player then we should have just gone in and paid it straight.

If chelsea buy Salah they won't get costa, not if it costs them 20m. Liverpool should have wrapped this up for 16.5m while they had a chance.

Read somewhere yesterday that Liverpool upped the offer to 18.5 million but obviously Chelsea gazumped that.

if Salah really wanted to come here, it would have been done by now. Most likely scenario is he is commanding a higher salary from the chavs to make up for sitting on the bench for prolonged periods. Let's face it. His national side would pick him regardless because he is a top player. Obviously though his ethics remain in question...

Once Chelsea wanted him they were always going to add a couple of million quid onto whatever we bid. We had the opportunity to tie it all up before anyone else came looking and we blew it. Unfortunately it's neither the first time nor no doubt the last.

I would say, let's move on, but move on to who. Seems we've expanded a whole lot of energy into getting him, and Chelsea just come in and take him.
Our whole transfer dealings need looking at, not just the fact that we aren't prepared to pay the price for top players, but we appear to be so slow in tying things up.
We need to be far, far more professional in the way we do these things.
Every club out there knows that we will just fold if a bidding war starts. We are so transparent, it's no wonder it's called the transfer window!
